TBT
I play with people of all skill sets and have no problem doing it, but if I'm honest I would rather play with people who are better than me, but not so much better that I don't feel like I can compete with them at all, if that makes sense. I actually play me best when I'm solo and it's just me vs the course. Sent from my SM-T580 using MyGolfSpy mobile app We are on the same page, I totally agree with you. I enjoy playing with anyone that wants to have a good time. I am not real fond of those that aren't as good as they think they are, especially the one's willing to tell you how good they are. My high school baseball coach told me-if you're really good at any endeavor, you don't need to say a word, others will let if be known. Mostly on Sundays, I will go to the course as a single and get matched with a group. It is very rare that I play with anyone with whom I did not enjoy their company. As I have said before, I don't know if its because golf attracts good people or golf makes good people. But my experience its that golfers are good people. robertson153
I get it that pretty much everyone on here has the same mentality on golf including myself. We play to have a good time. Nobody wants to play with an A-hole or that D-bag or a sloth. I guess I should rephrase the question to, what skill level brings out the best in your game. Maybe it's a lower skill level that when you're beating them you relax and play better. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe if they are better and you have to play catchup you turn into this clutch player. I can play better players and my game is elevated and I can also play with players not as good as me and get walk in to a high score before I know it. If I'm in a league game or a game with a lil cash on the line. Give me the A player and I like my chances better than if I played the D guy lol. Boils down to what kind of match it is I guess. Philly Golf Guy
I play the best when I'm comfortable with who I'm playing with. That usually means guys I know don't really care how I play. So skill level doesn't really affect me but I guess there's not an intimidation factor with guys worse than me. The only guys I prefer not to play with are those who take themselves too seriously and those who are condescending. Just not a whole lot of fun to play with. tony@CIC
I don't like playing with people that are worse than me (can't find too many of them anyway). Playing with worse golfers makes me too complacent. Also don't like playing with very low handicappers because they cause me to make stupid moves like not laying up when I should. Playing with others that have a handicap 5-10 strokes lower is the ideal target for me. deejaid
Someone that can hold an intelligent conversation. 4-5 hours with someone is a long time and it's nice to talk golf, sports, careers whatever. I don't care if others are better or worse players than me, just that they act the right way on the course. It's amazing how many grown men have tantrums and act like complete children on the course. If I'm getting out of the house away from my 3 screaming kids I don't need to spend 4 hours with a grown child. I can spot them on the first tee box too. They are the blow-hards that can't stop talking about themselves. This goes back to the intelligent conversation requirement.
