Going to buy a new putter in the next week and wanting to see what you guys think I should try. I have been looking at the Spider Tour Red and Scotty Cameron m1. I have a straight back putting stoke so I'm thinking I'm wanting a face balanced, wanting something consistent and good for lag putts. Let me hear your suggestions and comments!

I like the Spider Tour Red, also Odyssey is going to make some of their putters in red....I love the Odyssey #7 shape...IMO it's the best putter out there for a SBST stroke

Love my Tour Red but one thing to consider is it is slight toe hang so it wants to arc a bit. I also like to think I have a SBST stroke but I put best with this and my Scotty Cameron GoLo Select. #feelvsreal

Yeah the golo Select is about like the SC M1 I'm looking at. If you had to pick between the two that you have which one would you take?

That's a tough one to answer as I've only got 5 or 6 rounds on the Tour Red and that's on fast greens and the feeling off the face is soooo different. My best advice is to get somewhere and try them both out and see which one suits you better.

Ok here I go out of the box of convential thinking again as usual. I am not going to reccomend a paticular brand or style. I will say go with what ever fits your eye and style and the main thing that feels comfortable to you. I know some of the young guys in the Pro Shop have went to the new TM Spider putters and like them. One of them went from a new style of the Classic 8802 and loves the Red Spider. He was a pretty good putter with the 8802 though. It is what ever fits your eye. Personally those newer Spider putters do not fit my eye but that is not to say there are bad or anything they just do not float my boat. In all fairness I was never a mallet style guy anyhow

I actually prefer the look of a blade putter but I putt so much better with a mallet.

just a warning here... I went from a blade to a mallet and didn't do well.... and it was a very good mallet putter (Ping Ketsch)... went to get fit and found out I am NOT a SBST putter and have a strong arc and the mallet was not a good choice for me.

Ended up with a Odyssey #9... the #9 'style' is fantastic!  Great putter in-between the mallet and true blade putter.  If you have a chance give one a go and see what you think.  There are a ton of #9 styles out there.  Nike, Odyssey, Scotty Cameron, etc.

... I have a natural gate/arc stroke and always played with an 8802 style putter after starting with an 8802 that I still own. Currently playing a Bobby Grace 6330 that was stolen and I finally found another used and bought it immediately. But I was intrigued by the Spider Black Tour as it accommodated a gate stroke and was automatic on the fast and flat greens of the PGA SS. However, actually playing one on the course was a different story. Short straight putts were ideal but even short breaking puts just lack a feel the 6330 gives me. Even though every putt is a straight putt, breaking putts take a finesse especially when dealing with slopes. The Spider seems like a good fit for a mechanical stroke but is just too unwieldy to finesse, at least for me. As you said Stu, a heel shafted blade putter just fits my eye much better.

Yeah that's what I said in earlier post. It feels like I'm SBST but I have slight arc which is why those two putters work well for me. Both have slight toe hang. Feel vs Real 😂

I'm currently reviewing the Huntington Beach 6 for mgs (official review coming soon) and I have to tell I'm sold. I also have a straight forward and back stroke and this putter fits that beautifully. It's completely face balanced, has smooth roll and I love the weighting. I strongly encourage you to try one out in your search. At 100 bucks you can't beat it

Highly recommend the GOLO. Got the Golo 5 and absolutely love it. true or not the guy at the store said the Spider insert isnt replaceable and will wear a lot faster than the steel on the golo, so you'd be replacing it sooner.

If you like a blade but putt better with a mallet, I would suggest looking at an Odyssey 1W

For me if it does not fit my eye then I am not going to be able to putt with it period but that is just me. I will admit I have some quirks. You are like me old school in it is all about the feel.
