Golfspy_CG2
I remember playing a nice public course in 2001 or so, when Tiger and David Duval were rocking the mock turtleneck/no collar look. It was January and I was wearing a nice golf jacket over the mock turtleneck, looking real sharp, and the guy in the clubhouse still gave me a hard time about not having a collared shirt on. I never went back to that course. Now, I always wear collared shirts even if I just go to the range. The new golf shirts by Sligo and Chase 54 are pretty hip looking, not an old school polo. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk A couple years later but yeah, in 2003 I was invited to a play a nice private cc with a local rep friend of mine. the mocks were all the rage, I asked him about it, he said he didn't know. I wore a very nice white one with the logo of the reps company. After I checked into the pro shop the head pro came up and told me I had to have a collard shirt. So i thought I'd be nice and give his shop some business since I was playing as as guest. Looked through the entire shop and the only thing I could find in my size was guess what, a mock neck with their club logo on it. I pointed it out to him, and said I can buy it here, but I can't wear it here? He said, yeah our members like them, so we carry them, but they can't wear it here. I excused myself and went to the car and came back with a ratty (semi) old polo I had in the back seat for emergencies. Oddly enough I was good to go in that one...Go figure. FWIW I hated that mock turtleneck phase.... suppose Nike paid him a bunch of $$$ to wear it but Duval looked dopey in it. Sometimes these fancy-shmancy golf courses can't get out of their own way. STUDque
That is just so asinine. Overly rigid people who are unwilling to see the big picture drive me insane.
