STUDque
Thought it might be fun to start a topic about times where we lost or broke a club and had to play using alternative methods. An example that comes to mind: I let a buddy borrow my putter and forgot to get it back from him before I played the next time. That 3 wood did a swell job filling the hole. Best part was I couldn't even be mad with missed putts. Zylem
Back in my junior golf days I was playing in a three day tournament and lost my sand wedge. Just must of left it on a green and walked off or something. Nowadays that wouldn't be a big deal since many of us carry 4 wedges but back then all I had was pitching and sand wedges. As I remember it I tried to grip down on my PW and open the club face some and it worked for the most part. I played horrible in that tournament but luckily the last day an organizer saw my bag and said a wedge was turned in that matched my set. So at least my club was found. Jmikecpa
Head came off my putter on the 11th tee at an event in college. Played the rest of the back 9 at even par putting with a wedge. I still do this at times when my putting go south as a drill on the practice green. Reesedw
Several years ago, I was playing in a Inter league Tournament our league officers against other Work league officers.. SO the Wed. before the Sat Tournament I go to the range by my work. I'm feeling pretty good about my game. I get to the tourny, we are ready. It is best ball. 1st hole hit a decent drive i'm 140ish out. Sh!t no 8 iron.. What the heck.. It's a PING not cheap to replace but worse yet I use it a lot.. anyhow, easy 7 iron when i needed an 8.. Played well hit the 7 great.. we lost but had fun.. 2 weeks later hit the same driving range on my lunch break to hit a bucket of balls, not even thinking about the 8 iron.. grab my bucket pick a stall. Sitting in the stall is a club, I figure it's a loaner club.. Heck no it's a perfect match to my set and an 8 iron.. I check the SN and sure a crap it's Mine.. Damn my luck. LOL.. STUDque
That's super lucky. If a towel falls off my bag that sucker is GONE. Let along an iron. Rusty1885
I played a few rounds with different combinations of 2 clubs total. Best result was a 54* sand wedge and a 5 hy, I shot 83. So I putt with both, love the 5hy off the green.

Rusty1885
Absolutely, I find that pointing the toe down a bike makes it easier and more upright so I don't have to grip down so much. The key is "light grip". Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
