For all those interested, who's up for doing a 2017 fantasy football league thru ESPN. I'm going to set up a custom league with live draft. Looking for 11 guys to join me. DRAFT WILL BE LIVE AUCTION STYLE MONDAY 9/4 @ 12:00pm.  This is the Monday before the NFL season starts that Thursday 9/7.  Looking forward to it!!!

We usually do a MGS league with a prize. I've run it the last couple of years but wouldn't mind giving up ownership so long as I still get to play.

We changed our office paid league from standard, to daily draft style. Makes for some interesting stuff. You have to do more research, but there's nothing more disappointing than your first round pick going down for the season in week 1.

so you're basically doing a draftkings league at work?  And you draft a new team each week within a fixed budget?

Correct, I was commissioner and setup a Yahoo weekly game, private entry, $0 buy in. Would have liked to use DK, but it was banned at the time in Hawaii. Had to keep track of points manually in a spreadsheet, so thankfully I'm pretty decent at Excel formulas. We're all degenerate gamblers, and no one likes seeing their $100 go in the toilet after week 1 because their #1 RB went down. It was a success and everyone really liked it.

 

This year, we're going to use DK because the "free" games are allowed in Hawaii. They have leagues that you can setup now too it seems, so that might make it easier on me.

I've only associated daily fantasy with solo games so that's definitely different but I guess there's all sorts of variations of fantasy football leagues these days.

Yeah, I put $1k into DraftKings and FanDuel while it was legal in Hawaii. Best finish was 116/103448. Stevie Johnson got shoe-string tackled on like the 4 yard line during MNF. It would have jumped me from winning $100, to $1000 but that's life. I was getting pretty good and had a pretty good spreadsheet going. Was able to interface it with RotoGrinders' website to pull stats for me for comparisons that I thought were more prevalent than the ones they already have on the site. It's hard to compete with the whales, but when you beat them in a head-to-head it's really invigorating. Granted, he pulled in 100x the amount of money you did that week, and that one loss meant nothing to him, but I'll take my wins wherever I can get em!

 

I asked the league what they thought about doing a weekly draft, and they were all for it. We've all been burned over the years by injuries, and it really takes the fun out of it, not to mention the donation you essentially made to the pot.

Burkmi, are you Arnie's Army? It might be useful if anyone that signs up uses their MGS username in the team title somehow so it's easier to know who's who

Thanks for getting it started, just one question, and I'll be that guy that starts complaining about the draft time...ha  Isn't August 7 a bit early?  The day of the week and time are fine, but still leaves a lot of time for injuries and such.    Just my thoughts.

May be a good idea to wait until 2 or 3 of the preseason weeks have completed.

wasn't me...   I forget.. there were 16 guys...  once someone gets hurt you're really screwed.

I'd wait until after the last preseason game... that way you know who is on the team for at least the beginning of the season and there's no chance for injury.

 

Drafted once and we did it during the last preseason game and the RB another guy drafted broke his leg in the game (while we were drafting) and he was kind of pissed.

I meant the official league. Of course you can still run this one. 

 

I'll probably wait to get the official league going again until we hit the preseason. Let me know if you want to play. Its usually a big league and a little birdie told me that we have a pretty awesome prize this year.
