1. It wasn't OB... Spieth was fully in his right to do what he did, otherwise the rules officials wouldn't have allowed it since they were right there the whole time. Dude did everything within the rules to be able to have a chance to win. Every other Pro would've done the same thing.

 

2. Getting all of the rules officials determinations was what took so long. A player has to make sure all is done correctly because there are thousands of eyeballs watching at home ready to pickup the phone!!!!

Man, I think I can go down a long list of players that I consider a joke and black mark before ever getting to him.   Definitely a bit slow, although not nearly as slow as everyone makes him out to be.  Even with that rules discussion, they finished the round in 4;15 minutes,  Two minutes faster I believe I saw than last years Stenson/Mickelson final round.    

 

But that's what's great about differences of opinion, one of the guys that bothers me most on tour Zach Johnson is a "Top 5 guy" according to my friend who caddies on tour,   I just can't stand watching the guy play, listen to him talk or well just do about anything...ha

 

I've seen this, but there's no way he actually laid that down for alignment, he had been carrying it for several minutes trying to decide whether to hit it or the 3 iron, Greller was on top of the mound, so he couldn't put it back in the bag, so he throws it on the ground.  There's no way I will be convinced he thinks that's aimed at a green 240 yards away over a mound. 

 

The rules official was standing right there, and actually picked it up after the shot, to keep people from stomping on it, I have to believe since he saw it to pick it up, if he believed it was a rules violation, it would have been discussed with him.   After all what's another 5 minutes at this point...

Not arguing here, just asking, did you actually see him lay it down.  I know I didn't there was so much going on.  I still have it on DVR, I'll have to go back and look at it again.  But if you think it was that obvious, why wouldn't' the rules official asked him about it, he's literally standing closer to it than anybody else.

they'd all be pissed if he went back to hit another tee shot and he wasn't walking fast enough.

 

Did you see how he sprinted up the hill after he hit the shot?  Did you see how steep that hill was?  

How many golfers do you think could have sprinted up that hill?  Dufner?  HA!  Phil?  Doubt it..

He was actually risking injury cause that wasn't the smoothest path.  Would have sucked if he slipped and twisted his knee or ankle and then lost because of that.

 

If he **really** wanted to ice Kuch he would have taken his sweet time getting up there.

 

The kid gets no credit for going right to Kuch (and his caddie) and apologizing ... and I mean RIGHT TO THEM.

Undershooter posted an Instagram post from some guy that shows Spieth hitting the shot.  In front of him is the 3 wood he was going to originally hit.  it is laid paraell to his stance and appears to be pointed at his target.   The guy that posted it also copied the section of the rules saying any club that is placed in aid of alignment must be removed before the shot.   Something to that affect as he didn't paste the entire rule.

 

He (the IG poster) goes on to say Congratulations Kuchar.   Meaning Spieth should be disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard.   All of which is a huge stretch in my mind.

yeah, I generally avoid any topics on rules discussions.  As I put it right up there in the risk level  of politics and religion..ha   As the rules are said by many to be black and white, but yet there are so many variations and  30.3.2.A part c type things that just show they aren't black and white.   

 

You should have seen the civil war that started on THP over the Tiger non penalty at the Masters a couple years ago when he took an improper drop.   I mean it was unreal, if you could have come to blows over the internet, that would have been the case...ha
