JudgeSmails
Understanding most may not have access to a LM to compare numbers. I'd like to see real world examples on your home or regular course, like are you reaching places with the Epic on your home course that you haven't before, or even are you further back than you are normally with XYZ Driver. That is the way I usually measure a new driver for me, not so much the numbers off a LM, which are nice. But am I able to carry a certain bunker off a tee that I'm usually short of...or in My stage 2 will have both, I have already done a side by side on a simulator to gather hard #'s, and have a fair amount of rounds in w/ Epic........I'm thinking I will get that up next week 808nation and Golfspy_CG2 2 Quote Driver: TR20 10.5* Hybrids: Epic SuperHybrid 3 18* Epic 4h 23* Irons: JPX900 Hot Metal 5-GW Wedges: CBX2 52* 56* 60* Putter: EV8 Ball: Tour BXS

Peanut05
This is one review I'm anxiously waiting on. It wasn't long ago I went and demo'ed the Epic with my intentions set on buying it that day. However, I really had a problem hitting it consistently that day. I think it was due to a couple of factors. The first being I just wasn't hitting the ball well then and the second was the guy that was "fitting" me for it. He's a friend of mine that owns the local golf shop and I think he was more interested in trying to get me to buy it than actually give me the right club for my swing. He was giving me a regular flex and I've never hit a regular flex before. Then he was changing the settings on the head to something I've never used before because according to him, that's what I needed to be hitting. I walked away not buying it, but to this day, I still want it pretty badly. Sluggo42
The best thing about the Epic is that the DBD 816's will be available for dimes on the dollar now. And imho, it's virtually the same in performance.so for those of us who can't slip $499 out of our back pockets, the 816 is a bargain now... 808nation
Great intros guy's, looking forward to your feedback. I was contemplating in getting the Epic or M2 and I chose the M2 mainly because I love the way it looks, the white and black contrast looks awesome and I honestly can say that it is one the best sounding driver I've had. I am definitely interested to seeing the feel, sound, and performance of the Epic driver. Fireinthehole
Fireinthehole, Just curious, what shaft did you order with the EPIC and what are you going to replace it with? I ordered a Diamana kai'li 70x, my fitter had one , but did not disclose the specs of it, which had it tipped 1inch. And when I got the epic I had it cut down to 45" so not enough to replicate it. I'm going to try it with the same shaft in my M2 and prepared to the same specs, the motore speeder 7.2 plays similar to an oban kiyoshi black 65 05(x flex) which I sometimes use in my M2. Also side note the shaft plays similar to the kuro kage silver tini 70x. Perhaps because they all also have the same balance point of around 24". This info is per Oban and Fujikura who I messaged in the past. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy chershey 1 Quote My Mixed-Bag: Driver: Mavrik Sub zero, ventus black 7x Fairway: Still looking! Peanut05
I knew it would be a problem if I started reading this thread. I'm strongly considering going back and picking that driver up now. However, if I do, I'm not going to the guy that tried to put me in a regular flex shaft. I've got a good friend that runs a golf course and he will sell them to me at his cost, so I'll probably get it cheaper that way. He's supposed to be getting me a price on one and then I'll decide if I want to go ahead and pull the trigger on it. I have my stats from earlier this year and last year, lemme take a peak at 'em tomorrow and see if there is much difference...I kind of doubt it, i think my missed fairways are just better at this point......last weekend, I hit 2 fairways, but 13 greens!! I was hitting the ball farther, and was just barely off the fairway many times, one time i drove through the fairway and was chipping on a short 4....so, not a fairway hit technically, but great result Quote Driver: TR20 10.5* Hybrids: Epic SuperHybrid 3 18* Epic 4h 23* Irons: JPX900 Hot Metal 5-GW Wedges: CBX2 52* 56* 60* Putter: EV8 Ball: Tour BXS
JDHolmes
Well, thanks for the reviews. I made a trade here for the Epic for an M2 that i just couldnt hit. Wow is all I can say. I was fir for it a few weeks earlier at a full bag tour van fitting at PGA superstore so when the trade opportunity showed up I jumped (thanks Zack). I've played it twice and love it. The best thing for me is that its straighter for me. My misses are within 5 yards of the fairway, very playable and much better than previous. Distance is similar but for me distance is secondary. Though i'm 59 next week, i generally hit as long as the 30 somethings, the issue has been wheres it going to end up. I play tournament golf so accuracy is more important than distance since im playing from golds. Ive also tried every new driver this year...actually purchased them and liked several, but the Epic is the most reliably straight. Like you my blow up holes tend to start with a bad drive. was looking at some stats from last year, early this year and more current.....not seeing FW% really changing, but I know my 'accuracy' is up, my missed fairways are much more playable, I am seeing GIR go up, which would be an indicator of that for me Quote Driver: TR20 10.5* Hybrids: Epic SuperHybrid 3 18* Epic 4h 23* Irons: JPX900 Hot Metal 5-GW Wedges: CBX2 52* 56* 60* Putter: EV8 Ball: Tour BXS
