I was a big fan of those hogan FT WORTH irons I really wanted a set but they did not have a dealer here in the UK.

Also the TK wedges just looked fantastic....If they produce them again I might be asking a US based member to ship me a set over marked as a gift to aviod import taxes.

Obviously I will send the member the money to order and ship them. :D

Better yet, Someone brings a set with them to play at Royal Birkdale or Royal Lytham & St. Annes and just leaves them for you!!  Of course you "won" them on the first round and "lost" $650ish in the second round.

If this takes flight. The direct to consumer golf club idea might be a game changer. I've always been a fan, this could get interesting.

Companies seldom do that, as it can get them into trouble with Customs officials.

This is very exciting and will cause me to wait before purchasing a new set of irons.

Using the TK 53 and TK 57 wedges right now- and I love them.   The feel is exceptional, control is good. I especially like the duel grind on them.  This allows you to open the face and get a softer lob like touch shot, or square the club and approach as normal.  This from their website, but it is true and they say it better than I can...

"At the heart of every Hogan TK wedge is the renowned V-SOLE design  For each loft, they blend a high bounce front section with a low bounce main portion, so the TK wedges can handle any lie or shot you want to pull off."

I even pulled my older TM RAC  to see the difference- no comparison- put those old TM back in the spare bag in the garage!

As soon as I can afford, I will probably buy two new TK wedges- just not this year!!!

Could be he's sponsored, in part, by Perry Ellis, who owns the Ben Hogan brand. They're the only golf shirts I buy now.

. You are correct. Perry Ellis owns the license to the BH name in apparel. BHGEC never signed a tour pro to play their equipment.

If I'm reading their factory-direct business model correctly, potential customers will need to get fitted independently and send The Ben Hogan Co. their personalized specs? No middle men whatsoever? Very interesting concept.

I hope it works out for them.

I'm reading this a little differently. They will build only "stock" sets. Standard length and lie. Two or three types of shafts offered and a couple types of loft progressions.

I hope they succeed at their new business model, but I do see the draw back on the big chunk of the market for players that want to try before they buy. If you've never used any of their products before how can you be certain that what you buy is going to be the best thing for you? They say you can go to a fitter and send in your specs but if you're not hitting their product how will you know that those specs are what you need?

Oh, and with Hogan irons with just the lofts -- the trick is to identify what club is your 7-iron, and work form there. It's not that hard - took about 13 holes to figure it all out.

But I am not that smart it would have taken me longer than that. But then again you are dealing with a man that had 2 V Steels in his bag a 7 & 9 woods looked just alike with the same shafts and all. Mistook the 7 wood for the 9 wood and air mailed it 40 yards over the green one day. Took the Sharpie and marked 7&9 of the respective woods on the shaft under the grips.

If that is the case you may have to have them fine tuned by your fitter

Heard that they just laid off Bill (can't remember his last name), the last guy in inside sales.  Not a good move - he was very helpful and knew their products inside and out.

what if you get your clubs bent though ???

They offer clubs in every single loft, 20* through 63*. No need to bend em, just order a club up or down 1*

Not anymore I believe. Now you have to buy 'Sets"

Yes but you would just buy the set that matches the lofts you want. So, instead of buying Mizuno's JPX900s and having them all bent 1* strong, you would just buy the set that is already 1* stronger. You can also find them all over eBay in new or near new condition and buy them one club at a time.
