Titleist Driver Setting: What do you use and why?

For those that have or used to have Titleist drivers, what setting did you use and how'd you get there?

I'm still trying to find my sweet spot and would love to hear from those who properly tuned theirs as to what extra things I should be looking for to identify my correct fitting.

Here's a link to how far I've gotten thus far:

What adjustments do your irons get? Is there any link between iron and driver setup?

My irons are typically 1 inch long and 2 degrees upright

So both the driver and irons have some upright built in to help minimize my natural fade.

When I had my 915 D3 in 10.5* I used the C2 setting. The reason being I play my irons 2* upright so I felt as though my hands were way to low to set up and there was no way my hands were going to return to that position during my swing to return there for a solid strike. So by placing it at C2 it gave me that little higher hand position that I could consistently return to. Unfortunately this came at a loss of loft which is that big of a deal as my swing speed is relatively high so I didn't really have issues launching the ball. The reason I mainly didn't like the loss of loft is because that opens the face a bit and I have been struggling a wicked slice as my miss. However, after working on mechanics Ive been able to begin to eliminate the huge push slice.

Thanks. I was thinking of trying C2 or B2 today for those reasons so I'll pass on the results

I have been at D4 for the better part of a year. My natural ball flight is a slight cut and this keeps it along that line with the occasional slow draw. Whether it's prophylactic or not this has had me dialed in well.

I've kept my 915 D3 in the A1 position since I found that it gives me a more solid ball flight with decent roll out. I was experimenting with the D4 position for a week or so, but found I was over-drawing my shots a bit, so quickly went back to the A1.

I tested C2 and D2 on the range before playing. D2 felt great so I took it to the course. After piping the first tee shot 315, I was sure I made the right choice. The middle 5 holes don't require driver but on 7,8, and 9 I snap hooked the tee shots something terrible.

I feel like I'm getting into the right neighborhood as the upright lie felt good so maybe I'll give B2 and C3 a shot next time.

I just upgraded from a 913 D2 set to c3 to a 915 D2 set to D4 which is standard for a lefty. The main difference is I went from a stiff shaft to a regular. I am hitting the ball further and in the fairway with the regular

On my 915 D2 I use the A-2 setting. The reason is I have a self taught cut swing to combat a bad rope hook problem. Now I swing outside in to cut the ball. I can control and work the cut. I am 60 years old and have played all my life. Now I was a late convert to metal woods and did not play them until 02 or so. Now I am as old school as they get as any of the old timers on this site will tell you. When I first started messing with the 915 I finally got on a launch monitor and found out I was getting too much side spin with other settings.  I also have the face open about 2* at impact so that setting puts it at neutral for me at impact. Also with a 10.5 std loft with the face in open position on the setting I will balloon and side spin the crap out of one. I also deloft at impact some too so in reality at impact I am about 8.5*. I also tee the ball low to hit what I call my standard drive which is a stinger 3 yard cut. I am in more control keeping the ball low. But that is basically why I do that setting

I was fitted back with my 913 D2 at a D1.  I did go back as I have upgraded to the 917 D2 and my fitter, D'Lance in Denver, kept me at the D1.  At times I feel that I would benefit from standard settings but haven't put it in play yet.

I would recommend getting fitted if you can.

I play my 913 D3 at C3. I lost a 35 lbs. over the last Winter and I must swing different now, because I was power fading everything. I still do occasionally, but this setting is working so far to keep it in check.

More than likely since loosing the weight you are turning through the ball better and have picked up some SS. I know I did but I lost my weight gradually and tuned my swing with it. I still hit my 3 yard fade because I hold the club off low on the follow through. I hit sort of a low trajectory ball compared to most except the 8 iron thru 56 wedge. But with the cut and sidespin combo I control it better. Now that 915 of mine will rock and roll on a draw but I have found out if trying to hit the draw a lot my old nemesis the rope hook crops up. I fear the rope hook more than most guys fear the shanks (oops did not mean to type that offensive word to many).

I will throw one more iron in the fire so to speak. A lot of the settings vary not only do to one's swing but the shaft selection and shaft profile of the selected shaft. Personally unlike most old schoolers I think the adjustable drivers and FWs are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Gives one many shaft and trajectory options

D1 in my 917 D3 and 917 F2. I play my 818 H1 in A1. I like the open look and lower ball flight of the D1 setting which I don't need in a hybrid.

And the winner issssss:

Drumroll please

D1!

I went to Dick's to demo my club against whatever they had so I could try different settings on mine. I tried B2, C3, and D1 based on suggestions from this thread. D1 had the best launch monitor data and honestly felt the best for my eye and swing.

Here's my data. While the F7 performed better on paper, it never felt good and looked like a grapefruit at the end of a stick.

IMG_4633.JPG

Then I took D1 to the course and hit 4/4 fairways I shot it at. All 4 were super long too.

THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS GUYS

After moving all over the chart, I ended up back where I started when I moved it back to A1 yesterday before my playoff match.

I really loved the feel of D1 but the open face was making it difficult to draw the ball if required.

I've got the align grip on the club but I can still move freely between ABCD 1 if I choose. For now, A1 is fitting my eye.

Mine have changed a little bit over the season. After dropping a lot of weight I don't fight a hook now that I can get off my right side a bit more.  I am played the driver in A1 with a neutral weight, three wood in B2 with a neutral weight and the hybrid in C2.  Heck I am even putting a 3 iron in the bag now that I can properly get through the ball.

I played this past weekend and was hitting my TS3 with a really high launch at A1 setting.  Next time out I'm going to try the D1 setting to achieve lower more penetrating ball flight and see how I like it.  I've been reading the posts and other forums that the D1 setting moves the club face more open and my miss is typically right so hope that doesn't exacerbate the problem.

my 917f2 is set at d1 with a light draw weight fitted and is long and straight every time. I have been all over the shop with my driver. never really found the sweet spot. today i set it up the same (917d2 at d1 with a draw weight) hit some really nice drives but some horrors too. will persevere.

I am set at B4, which is .75 flat and 1.5 extra loft. I was hitting a big hook at the start of the fitting and that gave me good dispersion. Probably not a lot in that setting.
