Divothead
The time has come to admit defeat. The Epic sub zero just has to go it`s the weakest club in my bag. I previously had the Titleist 917 D3 and I rarely missed a fairway! I got sucked into the hype with the Jail break technology. I did test the Epic SZ before I bought it.... but simulators tell lies!!! GolfSpy_APH
I can't say I've done it with the sub zero but I've done it with many other drivers and I keep going back to my fly z+. I have tried countless other drivers and purchased a few along the way however even though the numbers say one thing compared to the fly z+ the on course results show something very different. I do really want to get a round in with the epic to try it in the course some day soon! I tried the EPIC GBB at our club's recent Callaway demo day. Hit it very well on the range, significantly more distance even with the range spheres they call balls... asked to have one made up so I could play it the next morning- but apparently they did not have the same shaft - Mitsubishi Diamana M+ 60 Red (stiff) - so they put a different shaft (Project X HZRDUS T800 55) and it was not even close- all pulls and pull hooks, even with great contact. chisag
... I had the same thing happen with the G30 LS. Hit it at the PGA Show demo day and never had a more consistent flight. Seemed like it was coming out of a cannon and the obnoxious sound was not as bad with a thousand golfers hitting balls all around me. First time I hit it on the course it sounded like I broke it. I already didn't like the look at address and now it sounded unbelievably awful. It should not have surprised me that I started hitting it right, left, low and high. I gave it a second round to see if I could recapture the Show performance but the sound was so bad I gave up after 9. I have a feeling I subconsciously sabotaged the performance so I would not have to hear it again. It had a cult like following so I sold it. ... So you are not alone. Once you lose confidence in a club, the reason doesn't really matter because the game is as much, if not more mental than physical, so it has to go. Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... revkev
And it's not the sub zero's fault I bet it happens to all of us at one time or another. I don't do well with Callaway or Cobra Drivers. I don't even demo them any more. But recently I had a debacle with an M1. I got a great buy and guess what. I couldn't hit it nearly as well as my G30 or my SLDR that sits in the hole as my back up. hckymeyer
You should definitely get rid of it. In fact, it's so bad you shouldn't even charge for it. Just give it away and take the good the karma. Just off the top of my head ship it to ... i don't know.... maybe a golf spy in MN. You know, just off the top of my head. And no it's not just you. I've tried to kick SLDR out of my bag with pretty much every driver that's came out since 2014. Sometimes you just find the right combo and have to realize that marketing and performance are not the same thing. Divothead
My miss is that I always hit it Outa the heal and spin the t#ts of the ball with a slight weak fade Yes it's playable but it's far from what it should be. I have noticed that the Epic drivers shafts are much longer than say the Mizuno jpx 900 Which I cream down the middle Outa the middle. thousandfores
Feel you and i did the same. Hit various and many shots to monitor - and the guy who fitted me said that that is the best you can get. Bull*hit! I am a good driver of the ball, i hit it long and very rarely get in trouble, with my g25, but sub zero changed it all. I have to admit that i drive longer sometimes, but the misses are killing my game. Made a mistake, go back to my previous one and neverever trust the hype. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy You sound very similar to me, When I do hit it out of the middle, not the heal it goes pretty well, BUT that stupid long shaft which is the real reason it goes a little further yet the longer shaft hurts my strike quality I`m only 5 ft 7" this might be the problem. I dare not take the hack saw to my kyoshi Oban purple shaft so its all up for sale. Divothead
We may have a solution to keep the Epic in the bag. I have just taken a hack saw to an Aldila rogue silver I/O and made it one inch shorter than standard. It`s in the Epic and ready (when it dries) for a testing. I do hope this brings back Happiness otherwise it`s gone!!! rouge subzero Fujikura Evo 2 shaft F2 3 wood Mitsubishi rayon 818.21 hybrid Even flow black Ben Hogan irons apex 4 shafts S18 wedges 50/54/58 Cameron and Crown M1
Divothead
I am going to have to retract stating I wish to get rid of the Subzero driver. What a difference that shaft has made! I have just played 18 holes using the shorter shaft as described above and I am finding the centre of the club. I struck the ball sweetly today and can only see things improving now as I feel more confident with the Epic. rouge subzero Fujikura Evo 2 shaft F2 3 wood Mitsubishi rayon 818.21 hybrid Even flow black Ben Hogan irons apex 4 shafts S18 wedges 50/54/58 Cameron and Crown M1
griecot313
You beat me to it. I was going to suggest what I did, which is go on Ebay and buy a stock shaft (thousand for less than $50). Cut the cheap shaft down and see if you find the club face more consistently.
