Something rare happened in the Chunks household this morning. My wife was up earlier than usual this morning and we made breakfast!20210213_103737-01.jpeg.87eac2f7ccd09fa0db512e36f34364b5.jpeg

Biscuits, gravy, sausage, and bacon. It was the first time I've trusted my wife to make gravy and she knocked it out of the park. I'm sad I was stuffed after this plate because I really wanted to eat more, guess I'll have leftovers in the morning.

Man, I want a good sausage gravy recipe. I effin LOVE biscuits and gravy, or chicken fried steak. It probably tastes good on a shoe let's be honest.

I'm telling you, biscuits and gravy are delicious and a great way to completely blow a diet. Growing up my Grandmother would be like, " Jason, you need to lose weight, you need to lose weight, you need to lose weight, do you want to to make you biscuits and gravy in the morning?". 

@yungkory I wish I could give you a definite recipe but we don't measure anything. It's just sausage grease, salt, pepper (lots), flour, milk, and you can crumble sausage in it if you want. I'll salt and pepper the grease and mix the flour in until I get a nice, thick base. I'll start pouring the milk in, stirring as I go to eliminate the lumps. Then just keep adding milk until I reach the thickness of gravy I want.

Biscuits and gravy isn’t a big northeast thing I had no idea what it was until the navy. Now I found a place locally that does one and puts some hot sauce in there. It’s worth it until an hour after when it’s a 5 alarm toilet fire 😀

I'm so bad at making roux or sauces, I always burn them. Will definitely be practicing this soon though thanks!!!

It's so hard on electric glass stovetops I swear there's a reason why every professional kitchen is gas. Hopefully I can get gas in the new house (if I can ever find one)

My wife actually cooked it this morning using the Instant Pot. She turned it on high, did the bacon and sausage, and then did the gravy. We have a new kitten and she was afraid to use the stove because she worried he would jump up there.

Exactly, never heard of Biscuits & Gravy until boot camp, it was green. Don’t know how they did that.
Never been able to eat B&G since then. Got a couple of the Bacon Boyz that get it every Friday!!

Seems like people either love em or hate em! When we make wonton we usually put them in, then found out my wife's family hates them. Now it's just meat cabbage and some ginger and green onion.

So after someone mentioned pho, and with the chilly (relative) weather, I'd been craving it. My wife doesn't really like pho, but I suspected it was because she only ever had beef. Honestly who doesn't like chicken!? So I took a chance and made it for the family tonight. Used the spices from this recipe, but added probably 3x the amount of fish sauce: https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2015/01/30-minute-pressure-cooker-pho-ga-recipe.html

Came out great, really nice depth to the broth but I'm an idiot and didn't take a picture of it after I strained everything out, wups. Will definitely make again next time we want soup. Found another recipe that mentioned toasting all of the spices first so I heated them a little in the IP before I charred the ginger and onions. Only took about 90 minutes altogether! Chicken fell off the bone after 10 minutes of high pressure and 30 natural release. Best part was that we fed 5 people for like $30 since I had most of the spices already

So after someone mentioned pho, and with the chilly (relative) weather, I'd been craving it. My wife doesn't really like pho, but I suspected it was because she only ever had beef. Honestly who doesn't like chicken!? So I took a chance and made it for the family tonight. Used the spices from this recipe, but added probably 3x the amount of fish sauce: https://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2015/01/30-minute-pressure-cooker-pho-ga-recipe.html

Came out great, really nice depth to the broth but I'm an idiot and didn't take a picture of it after I strained everything out, wups. Will definitely make again next time we want soup. Found another recipe that mentioned toasting all of the spices first so I heated them a little in the IP before I charred the ginger and onions. Only took about 90 minutes altogether! Chicken fell off the bone after 10 minutes of high pressure and 30 natural release. Best part was that we fed 5 people for like $30 since I had most of the spices already

Oh Keto.. how I miss you dearly..

Blue cheese on any beef cut is always a go-to for us. If you're a fan of horseradish, add a tsp to a portion of blue cheese + a tsp of worcestershire and microwave for about 20 seconds. For me this is the only permissible sauce allowed on a steak.

Those sprouts look killer too! Nice work!
