The Prairie Club (Nebraska)

That can't be Nebraska!!  What are those mounds doing there?  I drove ALL the way across Nebraska, west to east.  It's flat; all downhill that direction, but from where I come from... it's flat.

Looks like a great course though.

The club is a great golf destination.  The Dunes Course is terrific.  The Pines course is good also, just not as exciting as the Dunes Course.  It also has a par three course.

The hotel is very nice with a wide selection of room types.  There isn't much to do there except play golf, eat and drink.  And then maybe drink some more.

One 18 is closed to non-members each day, so if you want to play both courses, you need to stay overnight.  It is possible to stay only one night and play both courses.  But the hotel is so much fun, I'd recommend staying longer.

Sand Hills is about an hour south if you haven't made the pilgrimage to Mullen, Ne.

This among many other reasons is why I love this place. Thanks.

I'm from Lincoln, NE and the Prairie Club is one of the best golf resorts in the state. I haven't been there yet, but all of my buddies who have played/stayed there love it. The northern part of the state (sand hills) is beautiful.

Driving I-80 is a flat boring drive, but if you get off the interstate Nebraska is beautiful, particularly the sand hills.

I might have to correct you on one thing. It might be one of the best resorts in the Country not just Nebraska.

Unfortunately that is just based on word of mouth, I've never had the pleasure to go there.

I did not want to be so bold... But I will agree with your assessment.

Iron Horse is a fantastic course as well. One of my favorites in Nebraska.

Thornridge is also enjoyable.

It's only 736 miles from me. I could do that in a day. What's the speed limit out that way?

Interstate is 75mph unfortunately. But I travel on the interstate close to 85mph.

To get to the Prairie Club it will be a lot of driving on highways that are 60-65 mph. The drive is enjoyable though.

How's the weather in late October?

Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Depends on the year. It could be in the mid 60's or it could be in the 40 degree range. It is usually mid to high 50's though. Which is golf weather here.

As long as the snow is only a dusting, -15° I'd play.

I've played there, years ago. I believe they only had one course at the time. Amazing track. When I was there no houses no people it was just me and my friend playing a great course.

It really gave me a sense of amazement as we played it. Beautiful.

I can't find the yardage book I bought for it but I remember each hole had a name and a story. I remember one being named "Rattlesnake" long par 5 but was reachable as it rolled like crazy. Also a par 3 that was straight down a hill that was a ton of fun to look at and play.

All of the bunkers at the time were natural sand blowouts, course was designed great.

For me personally it's about the best overall golf facility I have been to. The two courses are both amazing with the dunes maybe being championship quality. Plan to stay at least two days so you get to experience both courses. The hotel, lodges and dining is out of this world. To be honest, as much as I enjoyed the big courses, the most fun was had toting a six pack, three wedges and a putter around the horse course with friends and playing games. The greens are crazy and you can play into greens from all over the place. It's an experience any serious golfer should try to take advantage of.
