I always find that I get hot with new clubs during the honeymoon period. Now that you guys are getting close to the end of that, are you still enjoying the driver? Is it still the wonder club it seemed to be when you first got it?

I can tell you my first range session I didn't think I was going to like this driver. I think part of it was I was set on getting the F7 and due to some circumstances I ended up going with the F7+.... in my mind it was more of a "players" driver....smaller head more workability all that stuff.

 

Well day 1 I hit a small bucket right before my first round and I was all over the place...first 2-3 were huge high slices...then I skied a couple and then snap hooked a few...I got down to the last 4-5 balls before I really focused on a deliberate smooth tempo and suddenly I was hitting baby draws....went to the first tee and smoked the first drive 280 down the pipe for my first "King of the Hole"!

 

By the end of the round I was hitting a mostly straight ball with a penetrating ball flight.

 

I don't think I can call over 80% fairways hit a honeymoon ...I call that a dream come true!! I'm sure that I'll "cool down" a little, but I can say for certainty, the XR is homeless!

Wonder Club? No. But it is still on par with my M2 (2016) though. I haven't used my M2 since receiving the F7+ and never even thought about it till this past week. I lost some swing speed which is obviously something going on with my swing mechanics and not the club. But with the way I have the club set up I need the speed to make this thing work the way it is supposed to.

 

I expect to find the sweet spot again soon once all their rain goes buh-bye.

That's so funny to hear multiple sides to the story. I think the official testers mostly commented on how ridiculously straight it is.

 

Is there a chance you're having issues because you're trying to crank them out there for the challenge?

I'm not really trying to overswing that I can tell. The shaft I have in it right now doesn't feel quite as good as it did in the fitting but when I catch it pure it's a strong club. I might do a bit of shaft hunting when the challenge is done.

Not at all! My brain is screwing everything up. It makes me hit more bad shots then good ones lately. For some reason my shaft came in at an inch longer when it was supposed to be standard length. It worked fine the first few rounds but now I'm push slicing more than anything. I think the extra inch might be over exaggerating my pushes.

The Cobra drivers are certainly underdogs. I love seeing how well y'all hit them. They can definitely compete with those more well known brands.

Exactly! I like to have clubs that others don't, and there aren't many that have Cobra clubs, especially drivers.

Rick Shiels has the 3 wood he calls old bluey and if I remember correctly he said that is the only one he won't take out. 😮

I still need to work with my driver, I don't know what part is causing me troubles.. might need to test new shafts. But yes, I plan on picking up the fairway and possibly hybrid to go with it.
