CG2's Live Coverage of Playoff Round

So due to popular request, OK one person requested it, so I consider that a popular request..ha    I'm going to provide a hole by hole update of Round 1 of my Mens League Playoff's tonight.

 

I'll try to add some course info later if I get time, to give you a feel.   But for the players.

 

I'm playing Doug,  he's seeded 4th in our bracket.  He's getting 4 pops in this 9 hole stroke play format, not true match play.   So he plays to about a 10 handicap and plays our course regularly.  Not a long hitter (like myself) so he must keep it in play and have a good short game.

 

CG2, I'm seeded 13th and am getting 9 strokes on the card.  So that nets out to 5 shots I'll be getting at the very end.   See I did pay attention in math class 

 

I'm coming into the playoffs on a decent streak of playing reasonably well, i hope to continue that by keeping the ball in play and avoiding the big numbers and taking advantage of my strokes.   My putting was exceptional last week 13 putts for 9 holes.  

 

Play begins at 5:00 PM EST time, so look for some updates after that and some pics if I can.

Thanks... yeah, I know how it can be cumbersome.  But these rounds are historically at a snails pace, so there should be time to provide some updates, but I won't let it disrupt my tempo or rush me.

So the drama already begins.   

 

About 30 minutes ago I saw one of the other guys in the playoffs in the clubhouse and wished him luck tonight.  He said, "Thanks, what happened that you had to forfeit?"   I told him I didn't forfeit.  He said, "Doug said you couldn't play tonight so it was going to be a forfeit"   

 

I laughed out loud,saying "No!! I emailed him saying I had a prior commitment and asked if we could schedule a makeup date to play before today.  He never even answered my email, so I rescheduled my other appointment, so I could play"   

 

He cracked up and said, "This is perfect and good news.  he thinks he's already in the next round.   If he even shows up tonight, he's going to be thinking it's just a casual round, then he'll have to change his mindset"

 

I said "Oh, well"  I sure hope he shows up, as I want to win it outright.   AS for his mindset, I can't do anything about that.  We were scheduled to play, and play we will!!

 

Should make for a nice lukewarm beginning to the round!!

That was a major deliberation. Having just unboxed them yesterday. I really wanted to use them.

 

But to follow the advice of a wise man. "You have to dance with the one who brung ya"

 

So they will make their debut tomorrow during a casual round. Maybe next week in round 2

I do the same because it helps make the bunkers less threatening on my approach shot.   I suspect as I write this, you are into your match, so again-go get em buddy.
