StrokerAce
Hey gang...looking for some advice.... I have a terrible habit of bending my knees up and down too much during my swing. Think of it like you're shooting a free throw and your knees bend down and then extend up as you release the ball. I play a lot of bball and do that during my swing; bend down towards the ball and then back up on the follow through... Any tips on how to stop doing it greatly appreciated! Here are a couple of videos showing what I mean... https://youtu.be/ru6PTiOHRuY?t=17s https://youtu.be/jCOxEGVMuSk?t=47s https://youtu.be/5KR7JZb5GaE?t=32s Driver- Cobra Aerojet LS Woods- Cobra LTD 3w 15*, 5W 19*, F9 24* Irons- XXIO X (6-A) Wedges- Callaway Jaws Raw (54/58) Putter- Bettinardi BB56 Ball- Maxfli Tour X Buggy- Motocaddy M7 GPS Remote Electric Caddy Bag- Motocaddy Dry-Series Proudly testing for 2024:
gaussman1
Drive by analysis here. I tried to screenshot a few parts of your swing to show what I'm talking about. I think the knee bend is a result but not the main problem. I think the main problem is that you're snatching the club inside very quickly with your hands. That gets the club and your arms way behind you without turning. Then you have to lift to the top, lift more to start down, squat down to get the club out over the top and stand back up to get out of the way. So probably lots of pulls and slices. The fix is back to fundamental take away, keeping the club outside your hands, clubhead moving back on the target line until waist high. Then turn to the top and unload through the ball. Right now it's very much inside then up and the fix is going to feel more out then turn. StrokerAce
THANKS very much for the advice! Very helpful.... I will try that tonight. I kind of felt the club coming inside on the takeaway but I wasn't sure until you pointed it out in the video. ddryan
gaussman1 is a much better player and teacher than I ever will be, however when I find myself bending knees too much or swaying laterally, I find that if I think about putting a slight squeeze on my knees toward each other (think of trying to pinch your knees together - not fully but a bit of inward pressure) keeps my knees from bending and my hips from sliding- allowing me to turn away from and into the ball instead of sliding onto it.. if that makes sense... I kind of felt the club coming inside on the takeaway but I wasn't sure until you pointed it out in the video. It's all a chain reaction right? If the club is behind you it has to get back out in front or else you're going to miss the ball. So it moves out over the top and swings down out to in. If, on the other hand, the club stays out in front of you, well now there is room to drop it to the inside and swing more in to out. And you have room to turn through instead of needing to stand up to get out of the way. Most of our flaws happen very early and we're just stuck in a bad pattern the rest of the way Sent from my Nexus 6P using MyGolfSpy mobile app Rogue SZ 10.5 *NEW* Fujikura Pro Green 65 X Rogue 15 degree Evnflow Blue 6.5 Back in the Bag Z765 4-G Nippon Modus 120 Stiff 54 and 60 Amazing Grace Ass Kicker
