Swing Thoughts

Recommended Posts

Try to pare down your thoughts as part of your routine- do your visualization behind the ball, maybe a reminder to "finish the backswing" or whatever as you step in, simple alignment check over the ball, then the zero moment. No thoughts- hell, no thought- just do what you do and go find it.

Yes - the ladies who wrote "Every Shot Must Have a Purpose" talk about the decision line ... you imagine a line drawn on the ground between you and the ball; do your pre-shot routine "behind" it, decide, then when you cross it you are now in play mode and execute the shot.

My wife would really object if I were thinking much about "swinging" :D

Once ready to commit to swing, I pretty much am just trying to think about delivering the face of the club to the ball.  I want to relax as much as possible because I want the club to release freely on its own to the ball.

When I start struggling with my irons, my swing thought is to feel like I'm delivering the club toe up at impact. I have a bad over-the-top move, so this feeling of toe up helps me to swing more around my body.

Don't **** this up.

Mine was also put my left shoulder under chin, then replace that with the right. But now it's the one up there. I'm all over the place.

Last year I started saying “this is the best swing in the world on all full swings”. When I putt I just tell myself to let the back of my left hand follow the ball to the hole (I'm a righty).

Huh, interesting .. I'm the opposite ... need to feel as if I'm exaggerating the toe _down_ in order to get to a better arm extension (better arm rotation and release). Well - that's golf for ya!

Passing on some helpful advice here

Many people frown on swing faults. When in reality the fault may be the only way many amateurs can hit the ball.Example:/early extending and flipping. If not for ee or flipping faults. Many would flat out miss the ball. Most swing faults usually result from an incorrect movement(s) well before the actual swing fault shows up.Just fixing the fault may not fix the true reason the fault shows up.
