Do you think you've met more or less than 100,000 people in your life?

Not golf related AT ALL. Just trying to be thought provoking. You can count there person as being "met" if you've ever exchanged words of any kind. You may include internet folks if you've addressed them (or been addressed) directly even if you've never personally met them irl.

I'd have to guess my answer is between 75-100k. For me that puts in perspective how many people there are in this world. How many lives that may affect me without my knowing. How many new people I have yet to meet? Mind blowing.

Follow up question: What living person do you think has met the most people ever?

I'm thinking maybe 25 or so jk. Hmmmmm I'd probably be in the 10,000 range.

Living person would be oldest person living

I couldn't imagine that I've met 100k people. 50k, perhaps.

I meet tons of people if all that is needed is an hello. Tons, 300-400 a Sunday in church, hospitals, funerals, weddings, Christmas, Easter ...

How are you figuring 100k?

I would say yes.  From years of working at the golf course, room service at at big hotel and being a food server at a busy restaurant.   Met many people every day.  That and I'm pretty old.

With the criteria of "You can count there person as being "met" if you've ever exchanged words of any kind. You may include internet folks if you've addressed them (or been addressed) directly even if you've never personally met them irl."  I would guess yes, I am 69 soon to be 70 so that is more than 1400 per year, but when you think of how many casual hello's and thank you's you say to folks you encounter every day it can be quite a high total.  Anyone who has ever had a "people" job has surely done it.

Quite possibly Queen Elizabeth has met the most people, that is kind of her job isn't it?

Yup. I was going to guess a President like George Bush or Bill Clinton because of all the campaign runs. But the Queen must've met more over the many many years she's been Queen.

Too young to reach 100K yet, but I'd go a different route for the most people, I'd go with the Pope, I know he's young in his papacy at only 4 and a half years, but he's been with the church since 1969.

I'm sure I'm in the ten's of thousands given my age and work experiences.

Who has "met" this most??  Probably some damn telemarketer.

I'm probably around 10k-20k people. I'm young but I've been in customer service a while and have attended 3 colleges, so I've met a fair amount of people. As far as who has met the most people, I almost wonder if by your definition, where that might place a dean/chancellor of a big university that has graduates every single year that they congratulate by the thousands. Just a thought, though, probably not nearly as many as a president, pope or king/queen

I can't tell if everyone is under bidding or if I overbid. 100k fits into the Ohio State stadium. To me, that doesn't seem like a ton of people over the course of many years.

There's 7.5 billion people in this world. Is it really realistic that we've only crossed paths with .0000067% of the total world population?

I thought of the Pope but I guess the Queen started at that high pace from childhood, quite the head start considering her age.

Good point. I'm still thinking you've gotta acknowledge them in some way shape or form.

Head nod, "excuse me", etc are what I'm thinking as the minimum.

I'm 58. But I'm going to make the math simple for me. I'm going to say at 50 years old I'd need to meet 2,000 a year to get to 100,000. 50 weeks a year (again keeping the math easy) That's 40 a week to get to 2,000. 9 people a day.

Given I've worked in the hospitality and sports industry for over 30 years, I think nine a day easily happens before lunch most days.

Now I realize I said 50 years and I know I wasn't working from age 8 to 22. But factoring in I didn't count the first 8 years and that even as a kid going to school and other places, I think meeting the 9 is not a problem.

So I say yes!! Put me in the 100K Club

Well at least you put a scientific approach to it. I just totally shot from the hip. I worked heavy flow retail for 3 years and would meet thousands of new people a month so I'm figuring I've got a decently high number.

I remember that too. I was a rule breaker and would do all the work in my head. What little work I would write down is just numbers I needed to remember for later in the equation. Didn't make a lick of sense to the teacher.

I didn't think so at first, but read CG's post and realized I probably have. I've been traveling for work for over 20 years, training, doing customer & technical service work. In the business for 33. So, yeah. Probably in the 100k club.

I doubt that I have met 100k people. I spent 30 years crawling around in aircraft and take it from me you don't meet many people in fuel tanks or engine compartments. I've also done a lot of travelling but still can't imagine that I have met that many bellhops and bartenders.

Not even close. At 49, if counting 365 days a year for all 49, that's 17,885 days I've been alive, or so. I would have to have “met” at LEAST 6 people per day, every day of my life. Lord knows one doesn't start “meeting” people until later in life, so I say no way. Not even close.
