Taylormade MyRoundPro App-anyone tried it?

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking about getting a shot scope V2 or Arccos 360 but I can't decide which one and considering the price tag I don't want buyer's remorse.

Then I stumbled upon the Taylormade MyRoundPro app. It's a stat tracking app like Arccos, Game Golf, et al. Except for two HUGE differences:

MRP is free

MRP requires you to track your own shots.

I used it for two rounds and it wasn't so bad. It definitely takes some time to get used to but wasn't overly burdensome. Once I saw the post round metrics it was worth it.

My biggest complaint is the lack of an Apple Watch app. I hate being the guy with his phone constantly out during the round. Especially if it's a slow day, it makes it look like it's your fault even if it's not.

It's also easy to feel overwhelmed if you have to edit multiple shots so I try to get ready to mark my shot as I'm walking up to it.

On the green I always pace off my putts so tracking putt length for me was easy. I could see it being a hassle if you're not accustomed to doing so. They do show your position on the green on the app so you can mark your putt that way. But if you forget to record a putt, inputting it later might be tough since distance is necessary for Strokes Gained.

Lastly they allow you to customize your stats based on your handicap level. The default is a scratch golfer but I ended up setting my baseline for the next handicap threshold I want to break.

Considering it's free this is a great alternative to the other club tracking devices. But you get what you pay for, it's a lot more work than Arccos etc.

I've included some screenshots of the app metrics

Let me know your experience with this app

Just downloaded this a couple days ago. I have GG so I thought I'd do a comparison. I just input shots from a previous round and like the stats produced almost better than GG. The dealbreaker, though, is that you have to manually "tag" shots.

I like the app presentation but I'll never be able to use one of these apps without more automation. Spending the whole round on the phone just doesn't appeal to me

Exactly. That's why I use Game Golf. I only use this app to input rounds afterwards.

I used it a few years ago, They had an intigration with the Microsoft band and I picked one up cheap and used it for awhile but it quit working with the band so I quit using it.

Didn't the app just come out very recently? I got an email about it about a week ago.

No it's been around for awhile...they recently started promoting it again.

Here's a link to a 2015 article talking about the integration with the Mictosoft Band.

Still does not work very well with a Microsoft band. I got the second gen band at a conference I attended and both were not great for golf.

  • 8 months later...

MRP produces arguably the best stats of any tracker I have used with multiple strokes gained baselines and a really clear interface for where you gain/lose strokes.

However, it is rubbish in other areas:

1. I am not using my phone to track shots during play.

2. The Microsoft band integration worked well for me but the band fell apart 3 times.

3. The course data was rubbish for some courses I play. TM did nothing to fix it despite me asking numerous times. Their response was instead to mark my Facebook comment alerting them to this fact as spam!

I have used gg for a few years. Capture is excellent, support is ok (they actually respond), but the stats are rubbish for 2018. I don't want to know I average 31 putts per round; I want to know I don't make my fair share of 10-15' putts and I lose shots when I am conservative off the tee. MRP provides exactly this...

The other thing which seems incredible to me (In a bad way) was the decision to remove the MRP website. All of these products require post round clean-up if you want decent data and that is way easier on a pc compared to a mobile phone...
