Customer Service is Not Dead!

So I picked up a used set of Ping ISI's a few weeks ago off eBay for just a couple hundred bucks. As you'd expect for a used set of clubs at that price they needed some new grips, a good cleaning and new paint fill.

After getting them all cleaned up they looked pretty damn good, except for the shredded shaft bands. I'd heard about Pings great customer service so I emailed them to see if I could get some original JZ shaft labels for my clubs. A couple days later I get an email back saying to call the number listed, maybe they could help me.

I called and after 1 ring a gentleman named Bill answered. I was shocked I didn't get a menu or have to spend 15 minutes on hold. I told Bill I was looking for some old JZ shaft labels and he said he wasn't sure if he had them but he would check in another building for me. He took my address and asked how many I needed, then said if he finds them he put a few extra in as well.

The next day Bill emailed me and said he found some and that he shipped them out. That was last Friday. Today they arrived.

Now I know it's just some cheap shaft labels, but the fact that someone would take the time to go track them down, ship them to me AT NO COST, and keep me updated with emails, to me, that's what customer service is all about. Bill could have easily said, "sorry" and went about his work. Instead he went out of his way to help me make a set of 20 year old clubs look a little nicer.

Sorry for the long post, but just wanted to let MGS members know that there are some golf companies that still go the extra mile.

Ping has won me over as a customer. They will be getting my business in the future, that's for sure.

I've had very good service from Ping as well.  They replaced my i20 6i when the metal on the back of the club got deformed apparently during an airline flight.

The same thing happened to my TM 8i from normal use. Don't think TM is going to do anything about it though... I should have bought from PING.

  • 2 weeks later...

My experience with Ping has been very good as well. Sent my i25 PW back to repair a minor ding on the face/leading edge (must have hit a stone or something hard) well after the any free replacement period. Instead of repairing it, they sent me a brand new club.

I had a similar experience when I emailed PING about the type of steel used in various putters. They were quick with every response.
