Members Gone Missing?

Recommended Posts

This can be a thread to check up on our buddies to see what's up. Maybe they became ill, overworked, extended leave from social media, or whatever.  Not all of us have the free time to make daily appearances and that's cool.  It's the folks that did frequent the site and all of a sudden vanished that concerns me.

Anybody see aliens8mycow lately?

I know for a while early this year, I couldn't get on the site and would get a message "this site cannot provide a secure connection".    Even now, I cannot get on the home page as I continue to get that message.   So I get here through google by going directly to the "19th hole" folder in this forum.

I definitely noticed that when I read it.

But like all forums. People have changes in their life or priorities or interests change and they move on.

But I hope you guys are stuck with me for a while

Problem is that we are always throwing down for coin- even if only a dollar nassau, I am playing for money!!! quarter a skin- whatever and I am afraid if I pull out the phone I will lose focus---

This ball marker thing has gotten crazy! Still have a day job and a family, and the ball marker biz is 24-7!

Definitly have been following your awesome work on IG. I'm just trying to decide what I want on mine, then an order will be coming. Although sounds like it might be a bit of a wait based on demand.

Great job and congrats.

I'm still here :)

Don't post as much during the summer, both kids are home and I'm a stay at home dad.  Plus it's golf season so I play as much as I can.

Older boy just started 1st grade and younger starts preschool tomorrow 2 days a week.  That means I get a solid 90 minutes of no children 2 days a week.

I've seen members come and go through the years, but really only a few have completely went missing.  Most just get busy and will be back when it slows down.

If you want to go down memory lane for some great members who are no longer active, peruse the first few pages of the Distinguished Gentlemen's thread!

Just looking at this thread is a reminder of how many guys have come and gone. I've been a member for five maybe six years. There are very few guys around who have been here longer than I have.

High Fade would be one of them. He does tend to come and go. I think it's often a function of where guys are at in life. I have a job that puts me on electronics during the day so it's easy to post. I know of some guys who were once really active that have changed jobs or been promoted and that has made it difficult to post.

There are certainly some former regulars whom I miss, a couple of whom I've played golf with.

Rev...Like you I'm near two computer screens most of the day, in addition to my phone.  So it makes it easy to pop off my work screen and over to my web screen to check in several times a day. Sometimes only for a minute or two, and other times, I lose track of time and gett involved in some good discussions.

But you are right about peoples lives and jobs changing that affect the access and time.

Good thing about MGS is it's open 24/7 and people can jump in whenever they are able to.

Summers are crazy for me. Chasing twin toddlers and being home with them all summer is fun, but exhausting haha. Then the start of the school year is a different kind of crazy.

I think I'm busier in retirement, than I was at work (and definitely not around a computer as much).

Still playing golf, still check the forum from time to time, but traveling more and picked up another summer hobby that keeps me busy.

I'm still around. This December I will have been a member for 4 years. I've slacked off the forum the past 3 months for several reasons. I've gotten involved in an new oil & gas deal that's been time consuming and interesting. Secondly, I've joined a local initiative to try and get our city to renovate our only public golf course. I'm also attempting to establish The First Tee locally. Volunteer work can be very time consuming as some of you may know. Later on some day I might see if I can muster up enough interest to make a post on these golf related endeavors. Other that that I'm playing plenty of golf and playing well. So no complaints in that department.

Live well and play more golf everyone.

Good stuff their Plaid.  Congrats on the work with getting the First Tee started, that's a great thing.   My sister is retired now for about 5 years, she often complains that retirement doesn't come with any vacation time.  I told her that doesn't even make sense.  She said I'll understand when I get there.    LOL   She volunteers with about 3 different organizations and belongs to a sailing and skilling travel group.   So yeah, she stays busy.

Your sister is right. I thought I would need a part time job when I retired to fill in the time. Wrong, I don't have time for the PT job.
