Stuck in the bag: What won't you update in 2018?

Think I am sticking with what's there:

* first time in a long time have no desire to change although the club ho in me wants to put an evnflow in it —any thoughts appreciates.

I just went for a shaft fitting with my epic and it might sound biased because I just spent $300 on a new one, but the TourAD I eventually got fit for just feels way more stable. I brought my spin down around 2300 from 26-27, and while I didn't gain any noticeable distance, my accuracy is much improved and I've only put one round's worth of work with it.

 

Going back to what I said earlier about not replacing my driver or irons next year - I confirmed it yesterday. Though I would LOVE a combo SC/MB set of MP-18s, I can't justify the purchase other than I just want them for aesthetic reasons. My putter however, is still not helping me score and I'm looking forward to seeing what the ER2 is going to do. Can't wait till it comes in!!!

I need to change out one of my wedges  (straight replace one that is worn out) and may put a hybrid back in the bag instead of a long iron. Not having rough in Arizona took it out, but now that the rough is thicker... probably time to put it back in the bag. Other than out I may do a full scale grip replacement as well, and maybe give the Pro V1 another chance.

I thought my F6 driver was safe, but after seeing the new F8, I'm not so sure about that. I have been considering some new irons, I'm currently switching between amp cells and amp forged, but I think some more distance oriented clubs might help me as I've lost some distance because of back and hip issues.

My driver GBB Epic Sub Zero will stay for a while. Irons Nike VRS Forged will likely stay. 3 wood Adams Speedline WILL stay. 3 hybrid Taylormade RBZ likely will stay. Wedges and putter only thing will hopefully make an exit.

Well took care of that putter. Replaced that Odyssey with a Cameron. Hopefully wedges will be soon.

My wedges are a mainstay. Along with my 3 Wood. As of right now the only club that's in danger of missing the cut is my driver

My 3 wood is pretty safe it's a club I hit well and far, 250 in 38* temp today. It's the only club that will be safe unless I find something that really whoops up on it.

Callaway 2015 gbb - might look into changing this year if something out performs this.

 

Cobra f7 3w - secure in the bag, best 3w I️ have ever hit.

 

Cobra f7 3-4 hybrid - secure in the bag

 

Srixon i701 tour irons - looking into upgrading these before next year, probably with the srixon 765s.

 

Titleist sm5 52 & 58 - it's time to replace these, new titleist wedges coming soon

 

Scotty Cameron Circa 62 #3 - recently put this back in the bag at the end of this year, always seem to go back to it

Callaway MD 64 degree isn't going anywhere. I know it's an unusual club but my course has very deep bunkers and swales. The 64 makes some impossible shots doable

Being on staff with a company has a few advantages. Driver will probably be updated to the new C300, I might be moving away from my trusty rogue silver shaft depending on the options. My hybrid is all set. My 3-5 irons might get changed out for the C300 forged, which should be a little more forgiving than my V6s. Wedges are going to be replaced, but the same style (PMP), but I'm going to try and put some Hi-Rev 2.0s in them. I'm trying the same setup at Rose (it works for him right?). I'm always looking for a putter to replace my Michigan Ave, but we will see how much I have to spend.

I'm completely locked in on my irons, Hogan PTx. Also really attached to my driver, a Nike Vapor Speed but if I found a more effective one then I MIGHT consider switching.

Putter, irons, hybrids are safe - I'm replacing 2 wedges but with what I had prior.

 

If I replace fairway wood it's with something from the closet.

 

Driver is a possibility - 50/50 I would say.

Oh I don't have it. Just admirng it from afar. But I would have no problem putting it in the bag.

 

Matter of fact. I plan on talking to Sean and Tony at the PGA Show about a similar one from the garage if I can come up with a cool paint job. Want to have him take a quick look at my stroke to get the correct loft and length etc.

So I have to throw out my entire first post on this after getting fit the other day. The realization that I was playing the wrong shaft in all of my clubs has lead to some expensive solutions. My wife says that all mentioned clubs below "damn sure better be safe" for 2018 now     

 

Driver: Playing an old TaylorMade R7 425 with Stiff Aldila NVS. If I get a tax return though a Ping G400 is in my future.

 

3wood: Sold the Cobra to help pay for irons. Good enough tax return and I will get a G400 3 wood as well

 

3 Hybrid: Talked the golf pro down on an old demo G30 that I am super accurate with to replace my Cobra F7's for sale. We'll see

 

Irons: Waiting on a set of Titleist AP2's to show up with F4 Recoils in them. Keeping the Srixons though so a shaft swap might be in order. Time will tell.

 

Wedges: Went back to my Vokeys. Loved the forgiveness on the Cleveland CBX's but after multiple rounds I could never get a feel for them on in between shots. Just a little too vague for my liking.

 

Putter: Edel E3. This thing isn'g going anywhere! LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Best $375 I have ever spent.

Bag is finished!! Got some early Christmas gifts from the wife. Got me two new wedges. Mack Daddy Forged Slate Sand Wedge and Lob Wedge. After I get my clubs cleaned up for their winter rest I'll post a WITB. BTW Callaway Pre-Owned is having a sell on wedges and putters. Buy one get one free.

I'm very happy with Recoils in my irons. A very brief, very limited test of their woods shaft in a 3W and a 5W not as much.

 

Elements or Elements Chrome? I got fitted into a Tour 65 for the G400 driver and GolfWRX says it is a UST designed shaft based on the Elements line. Curious to hear your experience with the shaft.

The difference between the Recoil 95's and the Steelfibers is night and day. Got my AP2's in today and they just came alive with these shafts. Had demoed them with KuroKage graphite (meh) before but wow did they feel great with these.

 

Was hitting them so good on the range that I went out and played a quick 9. Hit 8 greens and the only one I didn't "hit" was a par 5 that I drove it into the water on. Hit a 7 iron to 8 feet on 2 

and a PW to a foot   on 9 for birdies. I hope work calms down so i can put these through more paces tomorrow!

My 9i just snapped today. Tour Edge Exi. maybe TE will warranty the club we will see. Other than that, just did the whole 917 Titlest upgrade this year. bur I buy clubs every year, might try a cobra FW wood

4H (XR), 5h (tho I did upgrade to the current year version of the Ping Crossover) and irons (Cobra King OS 6-9i). Plus the MLA Tour XDream

 

Woods subject to change - eg. may drop the 5W and go back to an old 3H; and wedges - probably changing to ones with graphite shafts.

Irons (Srixon 565/765 blended) are locked. Driver (Epic) and wedges are pretty safe too.

 

The FW and hybrid could be up for grabs this year.

At this point they all seem safe. The Triton is new (replaced a HiBore XL) and I'm very happy with it. Looks like, club-wise, a stable year. I just had everything re-gripped so that gives them all new life.

Most of the bag should be safe for 2018, with three possible exceptions:

 

• Nike Covert 2.0 driver (Wishon S2S Red) - SAFE
• Wishon 775HS hybrids (2, 3, 4, 5) (Wishon S2S Red Hybrid) - probably SAFE, but I may replace the 2-hybrid with a 5-wood at some point
• Wishon 979SS irons (6, 7) (Wishon S2S Red Iron) - SAFE
• Wishon 979SS irons (8, 9, P) (Wishon S2S Stepless Steel) - SAFE
• Ping Glide wedges (50°SS, 54°SS, 58°ES) (Ping CFS Wedge) - probably SAFE, but I may replace the 58°ES with the same model in the Glide 2.0 line at some point
• Ping Scottsdale TR Piper C putter - probably SAFE, but I'm coveting an Evnroll ER2CS
