The traffic!!!!

Wow we couldn’t believe how steady it was. Making turns without a traffic stop was something.

No golf this time. The only course I have my eyes set on for some odd reason is Northwood golf club near Healdsburg. It’s a McKenzie course and it looks gorgeous.

Where do you play most often?

I said I was going to play Northwood this year but still haven’t made it up there. It’s about 45 miles away but there is no easy way to get there from my place so it’s about 1.5-1.75 hour drive. When I do go play it I’ll get plenty of pictures though. It looks pretty cool.

There are so many Alister Mackenzie courses near me, Haggin Oaks in Sacramento, Northwood, Pasatiempo, and Sharp Park in Pacifica. Sharp Park is the only one I’ve played.

I got a membership at a club nearby and play almost exclusively there now since it is so close. But before I joined a club I mostly played Napa Golf Course at Kennedy Park, Chardonnay, Blue Rock Springs, and Franklin Canyon since moving to this area.

Before that, I lived in the East Bay so I mostly played The Metropolitan, Lake Chabot, Tony Lema (now called Monarch Bay but I still call it Tony Lema for Champagne Tony), Skywest, and the now closed Sunol Valley.

We have so many great courses nearby it’s great to be a golfer in this area.

Please take photos I’d love to see some.

Glad to hear someone digging in and making the most of what the area has to offer. Cheers!

We made the Wine/Bay Area/ Redwood trip about 12 years ago. Loved Napa (especially the wind caverns) and Redwoods were pretty cool.

Wind caverns are next up for us. A friend always does a west coast trip and rotates between Oregon and the Bay Area. Absolutely gorgeous photos.

My wife and I did Napa for her 40th birthday. Did the wine train and toured The Castello di amorosa , it was amazing . Highly recommend IMG_1449.JPGIMG_1450.JPGIMG_1451.JPGIMG_1452.JPG

Was not overly impressed with Napa town itself but the winery’s were what we went for. Took a drive to Sonoma as well , really liked the town square , reminded me of jasper here in Canada.

Not a wine drinker myself.  My wife is such a fan of Duplin, she is a member of their club.  She has taken several trips to the winery and gets 3 bottles shipped to the house every month as part of her club membership.

Tony, this one was the best.  it was amazing.

According to the tour guide it was the owners project. the entire castle was imported and rebuilt in Napa by the Sattui family.  the wine was also amazing.

During my college years, we had what could be called a "wine party" at the fraternity house.   I have never had such a bad hangover; I actually think I may have lost some brain cells.   To this day, I cannot and do not drink wine.   For me, wine is an ingredient in the preparation of certain food dishes, for example a steak sauce.

A bunch of years ago, I took the lady that would eventually be my wife, to a fancy place for dinner.   The waiter asked if we would like some wine with our dinners.   I asked if he had any "Boones Farm" available.   He replied: sir, which month would you like.

Winery: Newton

Wine: Unfiltered Chardonnay

Price: $34

A nice chardonnay with a big mouthfeel and aromas of honey, lemon & vanilla. Flavors of honey, tart lemon and just hint of that vanilla. Paired well with grilled scallops and peaches stuffed with goat cheese.

lots of good wine choices here I've never come across.

This isn't going to go down well but I'm stopping wine drinking for a week as I have a glass or 2 every night with dinner- man it puts on the pounds as it's like drinking a glass of sugar...or so I'm told.

Wine: 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon

Winery: Intrinsic Wine Company

Price: $16.99

One of Wine Spectator's bargain wines. A pretty decent Cab for the price. Dense, inky purple color with blueberry, blackberry and pomegranate flavors and a nice silky mouth feel.

Wine: The Pundit

Winery: Tenet

Price: $24.95

A rich ruby colored syrah blend with aromas of vanilla covered cherries. Flavors of blueberry, tobacco, blackberry with a tart cola finish and a huge body. Highly recommend this wine paired with gamey meets like lamb, but could drink it on its own on cool evening like last night!

Wine: Valpolicella

Winery: Allegrini

Price $17.99

Allegrini makes some amazing high end wines, but their budget offerings are quite good as well. This rustic Italian red has aged quite well for a cheap wine. A biting cherry flavor transitions into a sweet strawberry with additional flavors of tobacco, earth and cola.

I've always enjoyed a good Valpolicella.

My wife only likes white, though, so i have to finish the bottle by myself.

The bad part is so does she, and she doesn't have my avoirdupois!

If you've never liked red wine this is the wine you should try! This was one of the first red wines I fell in love with because it was so different from all the other reds I was exposed to. This a red blend so its incredibly well balanced, not too sweet, not too tart with a really big mouthfeel. It also ages well moving from light strawberry aroma flavors to deep blackberry. This bottle has a huge blackberry aroma and the flavors are blackberry, boysenberry and with its hefty body it has a Smuckers jam quality to it. Try it you won't be disappointed.

Was recommend this wine while browsing in my local store, was not sure at first, toasted marshmallow and dark chocolate sounds like s'mores and not wine, but mixed with the black berry flavor .. it was outstanding , so much I bought a case. 1545533730446.jpeg
