Denver area

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be in the Denver area the first week in October. I need suggestions for good courses in the area. I've played fossil trace so leave that off the list. I'm willing to drive anywhere as I'll have about 36 hours of free time when I'm there. Thanks in advance!

Arrowhead in Littleton is my favorite Colorado golf courseIMG_0179.PNG

Views like that all over the course. Less than an hour from downtown Denver.

There is also a Pete Dye facility in Brighton called Riverdale....2 course...the Dunes is the best.

There are a couple in the Aurora area....Common Grounds and Murphy Creek, both pretty decent.

There are courses at the Broadmoor and RedSky Ranch...but there are tough to get on and very high dollar

+1 on Arrowhead and Riverdale Dunes (quickly becoming my favorite loop in the Metro area).

In addition to the Colorado Springs referenced Broadmoor Re$ort, if you have a military connection, the courses at the Air Force Academy are incredible.

Or if you are a masochist, Dick Phelps' absurdly penal Antler Creek has the distinction of offering 8000+ yards of pain from the tips.

If you are after high country golf and don't want to pay the Red Sky premium; Granby Ranch, Pole Creek and Grand Elk all clustered in the Fraser Valley are fun tests and reasonably priced, particularly with unpredictable weather you can expect the first week of October.

Let me know if you'd like to put together a group.

Awesome! Thanks for the help. I'll start researching the courses y'all recommended.

I looked up The Ridge south of the Denver area but I can't pay Troon golf prices on this trip.

It will just be me playing as my boss sucks and another co-worker would rather watch the mountains grow than golf. I'd be game to join up with anyone in the area, but I don't want to intrude on a regular group. I'll plan to play Saturday early afternoon and Sunday mid-morning.

I played a Nicklaus course outside of Park City, Utah that measured just at 8100 from the tips. It was brutal. Even with the elevation, the opening 718 yard par 5 was a driver, 3 wood, 6 iron into a 3 tiered green with a big false front. Golf isn't fun past 7800+ yards.

+1 for Murphy Creek and Riverdale Dunes. On the Northwest end a good one is Walnut Creek. Legacy Ridge and Colorado National are also ok and reasonable.

I'm open to trying to get together. I have been trying to put a one day game together for some members on here but not a ton of luck. Maybe we could round a few up.

I like it fellas. HighFade has also been itching to put a game together for awhile. We'd have a 4some of pretty salty sticks with him rounding out the group.

Murphy Creek - Aurora, CO

Colorado National - Erie, CO

Fox Hollow - Englewood, CO

Riverdale Dunes - Brighton, CO

Commonground, Aurora, CO

Green Valley Ranch

Not sure if open they close early in year bc of weather but Bear Dance - Larkspur, CO

If you belong to a club and they would call in for a reciprocal, you could try Colorado Golf Club or Red Rocks.  Not many others do reciprocals.

I land at 10:30 Saturday morning so I could play around 12:30. My conference starts at 4pm Sunday so I could tee it up anytime before 11am on Sunday.

I'll book a 1pm tee time at Murphy Creek on Saturday, Sept 30th. I'll book it for a foursome and then adjust if need be. Let me know if you'd like to play. I know that's smack dab in the middle of the day and there will be plenty of football to watch at that time.

I'll make a mid-morning tee time at Riverdale - Dunes on Sunday, Oct 1. Probably around 9am.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Both tee times are for a foursome. If you can make it, great!
