App photo upload

[STUDque]

This problem started recently. I get this error no matter what size photo I try to upload to the forum.

 

It only lets me upload screenshots. I always pick "optimized." I've sent a bunch of error logs in. No idea what to do to fix it. I've tried reinstalling.

 

 

Besides screenshots, the only way I can upload photos is by posting them to imgur before linking them here.

It may be due to the fact that you have used up all your allowed attachment space, if I'm not mistaken. You can check on a desktop. It will be under "my settings" then "manage attachments".

 

I'm not sure if that's the problem, but it's my first guess.

So I have to delete attachments from other posts just so I can post more? That doesn't seem fair.

Unfortunately storage space isn't free or infinite.  Each person has a set amount they can post.  And yes like TSauer said I'd check to see if you're full first.

I get what you're saying. I also know photos are a big point of emphasis for this site so I find myself in a bit of a conundrum. I could probably go through and trim some fat but that would take time.

I get it, but it is what it is.  Start with oldest first and just delete some photos.  I believe you have to use the full site to do that, not via the app.

 

Then just make sure to minimize the pictures before posting.  It's kind of a pain but I find that emailing them to myself and choosing medium for file size usually makes them smaller than just hitting optimize through the app.  Usually gets the file size down to 150-200k instead of somewhere in the MB range.

Why can't the MGS App have an option for smaller file size?  Optimized is still MB size and clearly unnecessary for most pics.  

 

I will post an occasional photo from my phone, but mostly transfer them to my laptop to post where I can control the size.

I cannot post pics. It says I'm using 3.6MB out of 195MB...with 38 attachments...only 2% used. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. :-/

I ran into this problem last year with my phone. Just uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Seemed to fix my issue.

So I'm not 100% sure if this is acceptable or not but it seems to work. I just found my desired logo (Maltby), saved it in Microsoft office editor and reduce the size/save. I used office because the size reduction doesn't de-pixelate the picture like paint does. Once you upload anywhere in MGS (I used this thread as it seemed suitable), MGS is now your host location and all of your uploads are saved here. When you go to edit your signature, click on "My Media" in the signature editor > attachments > all of your most recent uploads will be there. Click on the attachment then click finish and there you go. 

 

It might take some re-sizing/editing of the original post to make sure your logo isn't too big. Mine is still a tad larger than preferred so I may edit again.. For now it's OK.

My iOS app crashes when I try to load pics on a post. I don't have a space issue since I've only uploaded a few pics since joining, but I plan to upload more while I am testing the new Bridgestone wedges over the next few months. 

Any advice? This happens on my iphone and ipad too btw.

I'm using a second generation iPad mini which can't run the latest iOS version and never have a problem uploading photos. In fact I prefer uploading photos via my old iPad than desktop running Windows 10.

 

I do recall early on having issues with the app (about 18 months ago) so I deleted and reinstalled it and no problems since. I assume hartrick has given permission to access his photo gallery? All else fails delete and reinstall.
