Fall Balls

For you guys who love your balls colored, do you keep them in play for winter months?  I'm talking a golf balls now gents. I'm guessing the bright yellow balls might be easier to find in the leaves or do you prefer to play year round with white balls.

Ironically I prefer yellow in the summer months. I found the ball flight easier to follow in the bright Florida sun. My current ball doesn't come in yellow though.

When I lived up North I definitely went less expensive in the Fall/Winter season.

Depends on what kind of trees you have around your course.  We get all kinds of crazy reds, oranges and yellows in the leaves so sometimes the best choice is still the white ball.  We also have yellow range balls and the range borders the 18th hole.  Don't use a yellow ball on 18 at Northfork if you miss to the right.

Yea I was thinking the yellow balls might blend in with the Fall leaves and cause a problem but not sure. I've never played a yellow ball during the winter months so I have no clue and was going to try some. It looks like the majority are against Fall play.

White all year can't see the yellow ones for some reason. We don't have many leaves so it really isn't an issue.

How about those soccer looking balls that Callaway has out?  I know DawgDaddy plays the red/white version in the summer months..

It really depends on which ball and which type of yellow.  The Volvik Vivid balls are still pretty easy to see, and I've got some neon lime Vice balls that still show up well.  But generally I just stick with the same ball I've been playing all year.

I play white most of the year, but my wife likes the Z-Star yellow.  Starting now until the few leaves we have are off the trees, I prefer white.  However during the late fall and winter we have grey inversion days which are like a high fog.  I prefer the yellow because the white can get lost quickly off the tee.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

The only time I bust out a colored ball is when we're approaching darkness. I've got this one Z-Star Yellow I found on the course that glows like a pot of gold as the sun goes down. It saved me in a playoff match last year.

I've tried orange and yellow in the fall/winter and they are actually much harder to find. I just stick with the cheapest softest white ball I can find in my stock.

I'd assume those matte finished balls from Vice with their Pro Soft would work pretty well. Also Volvik's weird colors should do it. I stick with white for the most part though.

White year round for me. I played with a lady one time in the winter a few years ago. She had a gold colored ball. Well, against dormant Bermuda you can never find them even in the fairway! I finally asked her to switch after a few holes of searching.

The volviks Matte finish golf balls, (don't remember the actual name) are great for fall golf. The matte white stood out so clearly and even in the sun there was no glare and very easy to distinguish.

Those would be the Volvik Vivids, and I really want to play some of those.

The volvik Red are my go to in spring and fall, then switch to white in the summer months. I lose too many no matter the color

I actually find yellow balls harder to find in the fall - with the leaves being yellow and orange and all...

Similar problem here in the Northeast .. everything gets harder to find! (Leaves and the lower sun angle.) White _seems_ to stick out a little better.

I have found that any ball, no matter the color, is quite easy to find in the middle of freshly mown fairways. ;)

I wish I could "like" this twice. I always say this to myself when I'm having trouble finding a ball "well it would've been a lot easier to find in the fairway"

Nothing shows up at my home course in the fall like a bright pink ball.  Watch some of the ladies play with them and you can see those balls a mile away.  The Truvis works pretty well in this regard too.  Yellow balls can get hard to see against leaves and dormant bermuda grass.  Oranges can show up well but again among the leaves they can get hard to spot.  I stick with the white balls since the ball I prefer doesn't come in other colors.

Up here, if you're trying to sneak in a round after work you'd better have a lighted ball by the eighth hole. I have wished they made better ones.
