Nicknames for your clubs

So, I got to thinking about this the other day after posting my WITB in the WIYB forum (shameless plug). I assume we all do it, but I was wondering what your nicknames for some of your clubs are or have been in the past.

 

I'll start, my putter is the only club that has a nickname. I call it Mjolnir. I know that it would make more sense to have that as the name of a driver, but with the amount of weight my putter carries and that the flatstick is the one that deems you worthy, well it just kinda made sense.

 

I also used to nickname my drivers. The first one was called Red, it was a Wilson Deep Red. My Mellow Yellow 420 went by Sunshine, and for a little bit I called my Nike Moon because of that little grey of the back and because I hit some moonshots with it. Now though, it's just the flatstick. 

 

So, I know some of you have cooler stories than that, let's hear em!

I call my putter Betty (Bettinardi) and she is sweeter than a slice of pineapple on a mayonnaise sandwich ! My driver is called ole blue and him and I are tighter than a tick on a blue tic hound ...

The only clubs that have names in my bag are my driver/woods and that's due to the headcovers that I have on them. I have 3 minions as headcovers (see my avatar!) and the club name is that of the character!

 

So....

Driver = Kevin

3-Wood = Bob

5-Wood = Stuart

Scotty Santa Fe--- Rusty because it is

Titleist 915 D2 ----  Jordan because he did game one

Old Adams 5 wood-- The ugly duckling because that is the ugliest club since the Cleveland VAS

Callaway Steelhead 3 wood (old) --- Pocket Rocket

Penna persimmon driver--- Tuck named after Chris Tucker who played it on the PGA Tour

Macgregor IM-5 Iron Master putter-- Kenny named after the man who gave it to me in 1972.

Oviously I do not game all of these clubs but once one gets a name it stays

That's what I'm calling my driver. I used to carry just a 5 wood (now I just added 7 wood) and I call it the smacker. My friend calls my 64* pm grind wedge the “cereal killer” cause I win some milk money. I like that.

I have built some hot little 5 and 7 woods around here for some of the older guys. Now I use various heads my favorites being the V-Steel and the old Callaway small head S2H2. Both of those are getting rare and hard to find. On this end of the beach they are known as "Stu's Little Heaters" I have actually been experimenting with the hybrids lately and built me a couple of little heater hybrids. Now my 4 hybrid I did not really build since it has a stock shaft but I did tweak it some on weight distribution and balance and did a lie adjustment

All of my putters are named "Clutch".

 

3 wood is "Bread & Butter".

 

Last week I played the front 9 in +4 using only my 2 hybrid so maybe "Swiss Army Knife" or "The Multi-tool" would be appropriate.

Anyone have some good nicknames for your clubs? I'd assume that drivers and putters are most named clubs in the bags. For a while, Kirke and I decided that his driver would be named Balrog, which I think is a great driver name that might need to be revived. Still not sure if the name is from this guy:

Only two club in my bag have nicknames. My driver is named Oh-No, as in Oh No, should of went with a wood. Lastly, my 5 wood. It is probably 10 years old, nicknamed Ol 'Reliable. I can cut it or draw it, flight it, bump and run, or whenever I loose the "feel" I can go back to Ol' Reliable off the box and punch it 240 into the fairway.

I gamed the Ping Anser driver for a couple of years. The all black scheme (and unpredictability...) earned it the nickname ’Darth Driver’.
May bring that one back for the PXG when it arrives.
