Hackabilly
My whole life has been spent in the desert climate of central/southern AZ. There are two seasons, Hot and Warm and occasionally a week or so of a mystical creature called Winter. The wife and I are considering a move and it got me thinking about the things I'd miss about the desert, especially Tucson. We have amazing sunsets, golf year round (except a week or two for over seeding), and just a 45 minute drive away is a 9000 ft mountain getaway. Not to mention we very rarely have any serious weather events to worry about. All said it's a pretty darn good place to live. So what do you like about where you live? TSauer
Missouri here, and I like that I get to experience all* the seasons. Now, the reason I put an asterisk is because it's Missouri, and the weather can change so quick. But, for the most part we get hot summers, cool falls, cold winters, and mild springs. Now, there will be an occasional 80 degree day in December and snow in April, but like I said... that's Missouri. We do sometimes have some decent storms in the spring, that can lead to some bad tornadoes, so that's no bueno. One huge downfall, at least for me, is that we're right smack dab in the middle and any place worth traveling to for vacation, be it the mountains or the beach, is so far away. Kenny B
Well, just picture what you have in Tucson only with more seasons. Our summers are not much different (100-110*), maybe a little cooler; we have a winter, but we usually get very little snow and it's powder and doesn't usually last very long. Spring is cool and usually windy, and Fall is just pleasant. I've been to Tucson many times and the scenery is beautiful; much higher in altitude than we are, but we are a desert no less; only 7 inches of rain a year on average. We can play golf nearly all year, but we have to bundle up. No tornados, no hurricanes, no flooding with the exception of small streams in late winter/early spring; OK maybe Mt St. Helens erupts every hundred years or so. We do get some winds ranging from 15-25 mph to 40-60 mph; blowing dust and tumbleweeds. We do get beautiful sunrises and sunsets. When I moved here 47 years ago, there were very few trees, not much irrigation and humidity was 15%. With a huge population boom and lots of agriculture (wine grapes), the average humidity is closer to 40%. A picture of Rattlesnake Mountain taken one winter morning out the back door of my wife's business at the airport. This mountain has been purported to be the highest mountain in North America without a native tree on it. Winds at the top of the mountain have been clocked in excess of 150 mph. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

STUDque
We've got crabs and four seasons â„ï¸ -My area is developed enough that we have all the basics but rural enough that it's a safe place to live. -The Navy Base provides tons of job opportunities. -We're close enough to DC, Annapolis, Baltimore that those trips are reasonable if we want to do city "things" Golf wise, our courses are decent for what they are. I've got 5 (of varying styles) within 45 min and tons more if I go up north. We get tons of wind which is extra fun to play in. Since our weather is inconsistent, I can play in any of the 12 months and catch a decent day for golf. josmi15
In NE Indiana we have plenty of golf courses that have reasonable rates and are generally in good shape. Cost of living isn't out of control and hardly any snakes. Good hunting and fishing, from what I've heard. I personally do neither. Canucklehead
What I like about my province is that there are a bunch of different regions. Forests up north, wide flat prairies in central, mountains to the west, desert in the southeast, and rolling foothills between the mountains and desert. Great scenery wherever you are. Hunting is good, fishing could be better. Friggin cold during the winter, but worth the beautiful weather once spring/summer roll around. The city itself where I'm from has a smaller city feel to it than what the population would suggest. MattF
I don't. I'm not being an old grouchy fart, but I grew up where it's warm and was 20 minutes from the surf and 10 minutes from some form of saltwater fishing. I hate being cold and detest snow, so I moved to NE Ohio. Why? Because this is where my wife lives. We have to wait until Connor graduates (he's in 5th grade and it's her idea) before we can move to sunnier climes. alfriday101
"Is this Heaven? No, it's Iowa." I enjoy small town living. The town I live in is big enough to have all the necessities, but small enough to not be a hassle. I'm less than 5 minutes from my office and 2 minutes to the course. A trip to the post office takes 10 minutes, not an hour like when I lived in San Diego. A trip to the grocery store takes 20 minutes max. When I walk in the bank, I'm greeted by name. When I need a plumber or other work done, I know the person and things get done quickly and at a reasonable cost. We have good public schools--which saved a small fortune when my children were young. There are two 18 hole course in town--not bad for a town of 7000 people. We don't have tee ties at my course because they are not needed. A round of golf rarely takes more than 3 hours. I have cities 60 and 80 minutes away when I want to see a play or take in a concert. I enjoy three of the seasons. Fall is my favorite. I don't like winter, so I go to warmer climes. I guess no place is perfect. But my small town comes close.
