Great review Kegger! Sounds like the shafts are really worth the money.

What do you say when you talk about them out loud? In my mind, when I read them, I say "S" Taper. I guess you could also call them the "Money" or "Dollar" Taper shafts or something like that.

I have been saying "Money Taper" when I talk about them, but I would also say that the majority of people that I've heard talk/ask about them have said "S Taper". Now which one is correct? Hard to say... I watched a video with Kim Braly from before the release, and he called them "S Taper", but KBS definitely seems to be pushing the "Money Taper" naming. You don't have to look further than the web address for the shafts "http://kbsgolfshafts.com/shop/money-taper/".

I may revert to the "S Taper" pronunciation at some point, but for right now, I enjoy saying "Money Taper" too much!

Great read Happy. That darn LOP score holds it back. I wonder why they're so expensive.

Do you feel like the shafts are better enough than the C-Taper to justify the price?

If you were building a new set and the C-taper was the "free" option but the $-Taper was available at upcharge, which would you go with?

Tough ...question..  I would probably not spend the extra $400 myself.  They sell it as an ultimate tour shaft so I get why it has the ultimate tour price tag.  If you have that extra $$$ for $ shafts, then I would prefer the $-taper over the C-taper.

Cut the price down to what they sell the C-taper at which is around $35 a shaft, then I would actually consider paying the upcharge.

Thanks, same to you! And I see you took exception with the price as well! That's really the only thing that seems to be holding these shafts back... Drop them to near C-Taper prices and it would be hard to find a negative.

I couldn't agree more.  I made the C-taper work for my game while using them.  The $-taper feels like I have to put less effort into them which is nice.

I'm tempted to get my gap wedge and sand wedge fitted with these shafts, possibly another KBS wedge shafts.  What are your thoughts on this?

The reason I shafted my Gap Wedge with the $-Taper is because my Gap Wedge is part of my iron set. If it was a traditional wedge, I may not have re-shafted it. Haven't put much thought into re-shafting my SW and LW, which are both traditional wedges...

Yeah. I'm still considering getting something for my gap wedge. It's not part of my set but i use it pretty frequently when playing.

Great stage 2's guys.....ya'll are killing this.

As far as reshafting wedges with the $ taper shafts, when I went through my full bag fitting for my Cobra clubs, my fitter recommended having the same shaft all the way through from Irons to Lob wedge

I think you're just trying to spend my money now! It is tempting because I have loved the shafts so much on my irons, but again, we fall back on that price per shaft. I have also been considering putting in KBS wedge shafts, which are designed to feel similar to the KBS Tour shaft. The $-Taper share the same bend profile as the Tour shaft, so if the wedge shaft feels similar to the Tour shaft, maybe it feels similar to the $-Taper? That may be a bit of stretch, but at $27 for the wedge shaft, I would be more inclined to try this out first.

Shafts are still going strong! Although I have finally found the downside to the $-Tapers... Although it's not what you would expect...

Since I've moved into the $-Tapers, I am finding myself questioning every other shaft in my set... I've never been a shaftoid before, but I just might be turning into one. My wedge shafts, they feel fine, but so did my Nippons before I replaced them with the $-Taper, so I'm wondering if I'm missing out by not switching those shafts... As for my woods, I have found that I love the heavier weight of the $-Taper, so I'm wondering if the same would hold true for my woods. I've been struggling recently with my woods, so I now have a heavier/stiffer driver shaft waiting for a new tip to try that theory out... Down the rabbit hole I go!

I had a couple weeks where I wasn't too excited with the results but that was more the indian than the arrow, my coordination had to catch up to swing changes I decided needed to happen. I played 9 a week ago and felt like I had a much more controllable swing that had a real release to it. I've been struggling with feeling like the club released out in front of me, but I think I finally have an idea of what that is supposed to feel like. Getting that feeling down has really seemed to improve my accuracy. I hit some par 3 greens during that last round and the ones that I missed were either really short chips or putt-able.

I forget where in the review I put it but yeah I did. Distance numbers were slightly longer with the 8- PW and about the same for everything else. Unfortunately the spin numbers weren't reliable or what I would deem believable that day, and the guy working wasn't interested in trying to figure out why.

Sorry, I meant AFTER that day where the kid couldn't get the monitor working right. To see if maybe you'd get lucky with another guy instead.
