That's cool, the interview and negotiations can be tough in both sides.

This was one sided. I said what I wanted and they said yes so it was painless. Heck, I start on Monday and don't know where to go for my office.

We have a rant thread and a random thread, but I could not find a happy thread... until now.

I'm trying to share my excitement about being off of work for two weeks! It actually started today, so that's 18 days without work. Woo! Got a wedding this weekend, small hiking vacation in Arkansas next week, then plenty of golf the final week. Here's to hoping it goes by real slooooow.

Go ahead. Share what you're excited about!

Happy everyday I'm able to wake up and spend time with my wife and play this great game blessed for sure.

Every time I see disadvantaged people on the street or the news I think 'there but for the grace of God go i'. It puts a bad golf game in perspective.

My financial guy sent me an email today reminding me that my wife's birthday is Sunday! That's valuable! He (they) have been really good including the bad recession years when I was worried. We had another guy B4 then who actually lost money in boom years. Jettisoned his fat butt.

Well, after a few months of retirement I am going back to work on Monday to run the finance organization for a public company. Obviously can't say too much until it is released in an 8-k filing on Monday but myself and my family feel it is a good move for the next chapter.

Talked to a few of my buddies this week about next years season. It was a bad one for me filled with a million swing thoughts. We decided to branch off from our mid week men's club and form are own group. Our main premise is to just have fun and forget keeping score all season.Which also will allow me to just focus on my golf lessons with no pressure.I tried this a while back and enjoyed playing a season where score didn't matter

Anyone else plays season(s) where they avoided keeping a score?

How did you like or not like it ?

Keep it in the short stuff

I enjoy it to a point. I feel like I get lazy when I know score doesn't matter. I've done it for a few rounds but couldn't imagine doing it for a whole season.

My true goal is to be able to score every round in my head. Just keep track of +- and end up closer to par. Does that count?

Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. But got a reply tweet from Mark Crossfield on a comment I made to him.

Guess he was a bit disappointed in the qualifier in it. Ha.

Tried it but really didn't work for me. When I played well I was keeping score in my head anyway and all the guys still kept score.

Studque + Rick P.I think what I was trying to say is not to write a score on the card. But I always have an idea what I'm shooting without writing on the card.Ive always had a fixation for numbers and equations. So I keep track by the +/- per hole for the round. This is the season I just want to get some confidence back.Im thinking I can maybe see how many fairways I can hit for a while.Than switch that and see how many greens-putts-saves etc.Bring the fun back to golf without being pressured on writing down scores and keeping an handicap.

Keep it in the short stuff

I can't seem to do it. Of course I press to makeup scores and I go from bad to worse. When I was a single handicap, what helped the most is really staying in the moment... Only focusing one shot at at time... And course management. But the score was still in the back of my mind.

K, I gotcha. I have a neighbor/golfer who does that. His entire card is statistics (FIR, GIR, Putts, etc). I tried it for a time but drove me nuts. Works well for him.

If you're not keeping a handicap and out to just have fun then by all means do it.  We had a group of guys which recently split up and now the groups are much smaller.  We don't have our weekly blitz anymore.  Now we play either rabbit or best ball teams where an individual score is not necessary..  We have a blast and everyone is more focused on how much money they win or lose over what score they shoot.  I haven't posted a score in weeks.

What helped you most as a single handicap was not having kids and playing 2-3 times a week

The Mesa-Tempe area is just so beautiful.Having a wonderful time here.Played some mainstream and out of the way courses here so far.One thing I was really surprised about is the yardage discrepancy from the senior tees vs the gold tees. All of these courses are well over 7000 from the tips. However, the senior tees have been as low as 4300 yards all the way to 5100 max.Its very enjoyable having a Lob-longer pitch after a decent poke into all of the par 4's.Fairways seem pretty wide but all of the greens have been pretty challenging.I could see my handicap really improve dramatically playing the senior tees in this area.A great place to spend pre Christmas holiday

Wow that's pretty short for senior tees. I'm more use to 5800.

It's a nice area.  My wife and I head there every couple of years.  She plays from the forward tees, usually between 5000-5400y.  I looks for tees around 5900-6200y.  The courses are always in pretty nice shape, but I am not a fan of playing a course surrounded by houses/condos, and that's the norm in Phoenix.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

My first day in Phoenix I played Ocotillo and shot a 79(keeping my own personal tally). The scores and ball striking weren't as good on other courses. This was first time playing there and had no idea what to expect. The gps after the round said our tees were 5035 yards.Pace of play has been just perfect for us.We averaged 5 hour to little over each round.Never rushed and able to enjoy the beautiful layouts. Many say the ball flies father here .Ive failed to notice any difference.Im still 210-220 off the tee and 7 iron 130-140 ish. This wasn't my first or last trip to this area. The area has really boomed with new housing and business.Have until Monday and might get in a few more rounds.Than go out and just explore the area.Very happy to be here

Keep it in the short stuff
