My true goal is to be able to score every round in my head. Just keep track of +- and end up closer to par. Does that count? Big money
Studque + Rick P.I think what I was trying to say is not to write a score on the card. But I always have an idea what I'm shooting without writing on the card.Ive always had a fixation for numbers and equations. So I keep track by the +/- per hole for the round. This is the season I just want to get some confidence back.Im thinking I can maybe see how many fairways I can hit for a while.Than switch that and see how many greens-putts-saves etc.Bring the fun back to golf without being pressured on writing down scores and keeping an handicap. ole gray and Rickp 2 Quote Keep it in the short stuff

If you're not keeping a handicap and out to just have fun then by all means do it. We had a group of guys which recently split up and now the groups are much smaller. We don't have our weekly blitz anymore. Now we play either rabbit or best ball teams where an individual score is not necessary.. We have a blast and everyone is more focused on how much money they win or lose over what score they shoot. Big money
The Mesa-Tempe area is just so beautiful.Having a wonderful time here.Played some mainstream and out of the way courses here so far.One thing I was really surprised about is the yardage discrepancy from the senior tees vs the gold tees. All of these courses are well over 7000 from the tips. However, the senior tees have been as low as 4300 yards all the way to 5100 max.Its very enjoyable having a Lob-longer pitch after a decent poke into all of the par 4's.Fairways seem pretty wide but all of the greens have been pretty challenging.I could see my handicap really improve dramatically playing the senior tees in this area.A great place to spend pre Christmas holiday Golfspy_CG2, ole gray, tommc23 and 2 others 5 Quote Keep it in the short stuff

My wife and I head there every couple of years. She plays from the forward tees, usually between 5000-5400y. I looks for tees around 5900-6200y. The courses are always in pretty nice shape, but I am not a fan of playing a course surrounded by houses/condos, and that's the norm in Phoenix. Big money
My first day in Phoenix I played Ocotillo and shot a 79(keeping my own personal tally). The scores and ball striking weren't as good on other courses. This was first time playing there and had no idea what to expect. The gps after the round said our tees were 5035 yards.Pace of play has been just perfect for us.We averaged 5 hour to little over each round.Never rushed and able to enjoy the beautiful layouts. Many say the ball flies father here .Ive failed to notice any difference.Im still 210-220 off the tee and 7 iron 130-140 ish. This wasn't my first or last trip to this area. The area has really boomed with new housing and business.Have until Monday and might get in a few more rounds.Than go out and just explore the area.Very happy to be here Kenny B, Rickp, cksurfdude and 1 other 4 Quote Keep it in the short stuff
