My son's team won their first PGA Jr match of the year yesterday, and he and his teammate captured 2 of the 3 flags in their match which was a lot of fun to see.

He still needs a lot of work on his chipping, he either blades them or leaves them short, but his driver/fairway/hybrid were ON. They had a "par 4" at 226 yards and he nearly drove the green. I told him pretty soon he's going to need to give ME lessons!

It really is. After the match on the way to the car out of the blue he told me how much more fun he has playing golf than he did playing baseball. I've always told him that I don't care what he chooses to do, as long as he's having fun then I am 100% good with it, he shouldn't pick things just because I like them. But I can see him easily beating me in a few more years the way he's progressing!

So I got good news last week and better news over the weekend.  The middle of last week I was pretty much done with golf for this season and tired of trying to play in pain or around pain which led to poor scores and no practice time.  I went Friday for an MRI on my elbow and it actually has improved quite a bit now that I am in better shape and working out again.  That was the first good news, but still did not solve why I am having pain in my elbow.  Thanks to our asst. pro and a doctor at my club that I play some golf with we have an answer.  Essentially everything that I did over the last few years to not hurt myself has led to an action that is terrible for my elbow but not necessary after losing 100 lbs.  I spent half and hour on the range with our asst. pro and the doc working on refining my action to not cause any discomfort.  I also am going back to my pitching days and will ice my elbow for half and hour after every round or practice session.  Happy to say that I hit 100 balls on Saturday and another 100 balls yesterday and felt great today.  Well great relatively speaking, but no discomfort that some Alieve could not solve.  Hopefully this trend keeps up and I can salvage some of my season.

Thanks and yes, I am at around 188 down so far....but unfortunately still at buffet weight.  My suit jacket size is now what my waist size used to be which is nice.

I have been MIA on the forums lately... but it has been for a good reason, wait... a great reason! We just bought our first house!

attachicon.gifHouse Front.jpg

Congrats! Hope the new house projects ( of which there will be many) don't take away from your golf game.

Met one of the most beautiful women I've run into in a long time today.Just a drop dead gorgeous middle aged Hispanic lady that looked like an angel. She was with a few other Hispanic women and sadly none of them speaked a lick of English.Wouldve loved communicating with her.But I only speak English and part German. The smile she gave me when our eyes locked was enough making me lose track of time

Wish i might run into her again

Keep it in the short stuff

Correct the above, should be 118 lbs. Only 30 more to go.

That's outstanding, congrats! What's your "secret"? Diet and exercise? I've been getting decent exercise, but my diet sucks. I apologize if this is all covered elsewhere.

Cut out carbs and sugar with the exception of a few beers a week. Mostly eat lean protein for all meals and target 110g a day and less than 30g of carbs. I bike about six to eight miles each morning and lift light weights. Total opposite of what I have done most of my life.

At the range, chipping green today with only the 52, 56, 60. Got the confidence back with the wedges. Now everything else will go to crap.

We'll be looking for that follow-up in the golf theology thread. I know it would happen to me....

That's awesome. I really need to find some cardio workout that I can tolerate. I've got the light weight workout going, but that's not cutting it.

Wow what an incredible experience!! How many did Peter blow by ya?

So I played the first period on team Red (and Bonzai was on our team).  I shut out team White, who had some significant firepower themselves, but... Second period  I moved to team White to give Dave Parro a break, (team Red had already scored 2 on him) and they ended up scoring two more on me- first was a wicked Bondra snapshot above my right shoulder (he had about 3 inches between shoulder and crossbar) and just roofed it! - then he skated over and said "just gotta keep you honest!!!"   Second goal was a two on one break - and guess who - Bondra to John Druce, who did not make a mistake!    Was an absolutely amazing time!

What's in the bag?

Had an epiphany about 5 minutes ago.

Pardon my French but Forget “compact” swing, that crap is what messed me up.

Never realized how much I rely on my long swing arc. Centered shots all around.

Yep I take the club back probably 30 degrees past parallel. If I try to shorten it I shank, top, chunk, and slice. If I let it go as far back as I can; I hit *more* shots flush.
