I seldom talk about my family on forums but after reading PMookie’s post I wanted to brag about my daughter a little. 9 college acceptances to date all coming with the colleges highest level of academic scholarship. Yesterday, she got a letter, from one of her top choices, asking her to apply for a full academic scholarship.

WOW...congrats.  As someone who has worked in higher ed for many years I have a special appreciation for accomplishments like this.  It is incredibly tough to get into schools these days; colleges are becoming much more selective and have an entire global pool to choose from so to be accepted and asked to apply for a scholarship is quite the feat!

Way to go dad, you've done very well.

Initially, let me thank you for your service to our nation.     That is definitely a great looking ride you have there.   I must admit to some jealousy because my wife is a trauma nurse and she will never agree to me getting another motorcycle.   I guess the bad news is that I will never have another bike, but the good news is that my wife wants me to stay alive.

I won't guess what the other obligation is, fix,

but I completed the one that you're talking about

before I would normally drag my fat wop ass out of bed.

Now I'm a nervous wreck for the rest of the day and well into the night.

I'd much rather be you, capable of thinking about golf today.

I guess that I'm on my course today.

Whatever happens, not a word from me tomorrow.

I might put my laptop up inside the basement ceiling tiles.

Jury duty is the other.  I have served on jury's a half dozen times and really don't mind.  While not typically subject matter that would make our happy thread, I find the process kind of fascinating.  As to the rest of your angst, try to keep it in perspective.

Moved to the Boston area in 2000.... I've heard something about "Boston baked beans" twice - once was when I lived in Oregon and the other time was a joke I heard.  Bostonians/Commonwealth residents will look at you puzzled when you ask about the baked bean thing...
It's my favorite MA joke and gets the little ones laughing.

A: "Did you know that there are the SAME amount of beans in every can of boston baked beans?"
B: "Oh, really, how many is that?"
A: "239"
B: "really?  why?"
A: "because one more would be too-fawty"  (supposed to use your best Boston accent here)
Especially funny during Thanksgiving meals!

That’s really bad, but I like it
