Very happy!

We were in Philly for my niece’s wedding this past weekend, and Tuesday morning, at home, I go to my backpack to grab my laptop to start working........... It wasn’t in there! I look ALL over the house, and car. Nowhere to be found. Now, I cover 8 states for work and this is my lifeblood to reach surgeons, hospitals, surgery centers, co-workers, etc.

It hits me........ I left my laptop and iPad Mini in the rear cargo hold of the Nissan Pathfinder we rented! It was in PHILLY!

Have any of y’all tried to get in-touch with the ACTUAL rent-a-car location? It’s next to impossible with National. I text my sister, who lives an hour-and-a-half North of Philly. She’s off and says she can go to the airport.

Of course, the car is not there, AND it’s rented through SATURDAY. It’s Tuesday... I gotta work! My sister gets me on the phone with the lost-and-found person at the location. She reaches out to the renter to ask him to check the vehicle for my items. At 7pm I get a call. The laptop and iPad are in the cargo hold!!!!

The agent then goes to MEET the renter yesterday around 3pm, and FedEx’s my stuff to me!!! I got them today at noon!!!!

Wooooooo-hooooooo!!!

I’m sending the agent a card with a check in it for her effort in getting my items back. Wow. Unreal!!!!

Met a neighbor today while I was out checking a few things before we close.

Kinda bummed, they are putting rip rap along the shoreline sometime in the near future.

Good for erosion, bad for beach loving kids. Kind of the reason we bought it.... and it’s going away.

Wish they’d told us about that one, might have thought twice.

Oh and he showed me a picture of the last storm. Was a bit wet around that area... I expected that though. Not very much above sea level. That’s what insurance is for.

All done. Closed with out a hitch.

Got a nice note from the previous owners... made me cry actually. They’ve owned it for over 40 years, and the Gentlemen was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and the reason why they sold it. They thanked us, and wished us well on making our own memories at their beloved beach house.

Plan is when we get situated to send some flowers to his wife, and a challenge coin with a picture of my entire family.

Dang it. Someone must be chopping onions near by.

The onion must be in the air, drifted to Florida.

After several days of nauseating pain and discomfort hobbling around on a bruised left foot, the last 2-days of working on my ass-groove in the couch with ice, on it and the occasional Aleve & Bourbon/rocks have paid off. I can actually walk with only a slight limp and the throbbing pain has subsided. Now if the weather will cooperate, I need to get my sorry butt to the range...

Just spoke with my 98 year old Grandfather on the phone. A man I greatly admire. He served in the US Army 95th Infantry and was injured by a German mortar shell in France. He came home married my Grandmother , raised seven kids and owned his farm in PA for 60 years. It’s where I learned the game.

I thanked him for not just what he’s done for me in teaching me this game, but what he and his generation did for all of us.

My son (who is in the Army) came up to visit us on Memorial Day.   He is currently stationed at Ft Pope Louisiana and seeing him happy and strong made my day!  I'm a moderator for two groups at Ft Benning, Ga.  Once my son graduated BCT there and left for Pope, I decided to share my knowledge and wisdom with new parents.   I love helping calm their fears and help them with questions that they may have.

I was 40 years old when he was born.  He joined the Army at 28  years old and to my surprise, there were quite a few of the older  young guys who enlisted.
