I’ve got some gnarly US OPEN style rough in my backyard right now.  Between rain and vacations I think it’s been about a month since I’ve mowed…. I should toss a few balls back there and get some practice in before I chop it down tomorrow.

Working on the same thing up here, also I know this is the happy thread but leaves are already falling

My birch tree started dropping leaves last week... not cool!  It's always one of the first to go, but still.... it feels a little soon.  It probably saw me sucking down some Octoberfests and thought it needed to get going.  It's all my fault.

I've only had four cars since I turned 16 (which was quite a while ago now). I wasn't planning on buying anything soon due to the market, but a car with the exact specs I wanted (and manual transmission) randomly came in off-lease at my local dealer. Price was actually reasonable, and I couldn't pass it up!

IMG_16092021_111233_(800_x_600_pixel).jpg.7a6328f69f4d8efffba8626c0a9c6b52.jpg

Downside is that my clubs don't fit without the back seat down, but I'm willing to live with that compromise.

Another downside - my golf spending will be curbed a bit this off season. Might just be some new gloves and balls!

I always take two sets of clubs with me when I shop for cars.  Clubs HAVE to fit with back seat up.

are u saying (budget not withstanding) that you’d buy a kia over a mercedes based on whether or not your clubs fit?

Yes!  In fact, I wanted a Mercedes when I went looking for a car.  My wife had a 1983 380SEC that had nearly 300K miles, and she ended up buying an 2002 E320 wagon to haul photo equipment.  In 2014 I wanted a sedan. All Mercedes cars had trunks that were too narrow; clubs had to lay diagonally which means that other stuff like suitcases don't fit.  I took our clubs to every dealer that had cars I was interested in; if they didn't fit... see 'ya!

I never looked at a Kia; don't know what their trunk shape looks like.  But I can get our two golf bags and two pushcarts, or two roll-aboard suitcases, in the trunk of my Dodge Charger Hemi with the back seat up.  Can't even do that with most SUVs, which I hate.

We do a lot of traveling in the PNW to play golf.  I want my clubs and luggage out of sight; no back seat down or in the back of an SUV.

that’s extremely particular, i can dig it.

i can honestly say that’s not something that’s ever crossed my mind when buying a car.

It wouldn't have crossed my mind either before I met my wife.  She's been playing golf since she was 8 years old, so we play golf.  It's what we do.

In my youthful days, before golf, I raced cars.  If I hadn't taken up golf at age 45, I would be driving a Porsche now.  😃

Now, when we see a car like that on the road, I say "Where do you put the clubs?"  🤣

Just got a really great call from the oldest....

She graduated from OSU last month with a degree in Molecular Genetics and just got her first job offer to work for Wexner Medical Center on an organ transplant team - apparently part of her responsibilities will to run a bunch of the lab tests they do to ensure compatibility.

Good starting pay and state benefits, too.

Sincere congrats to your girl and your family.

I will guess from your location info that OSU is the Buckeyes and not the Cowboys or Beavers.

Tom, is that Test similar to the “Bird Dog” Field Trials that we used to run in the Northeast?
