Here is my son's project for a local church that had a lot of veterans buried in their cemetery out back. We dug the hole, put in a sleeve for the flag pole, poured a 3'x3'x3' cement  base that was flush with the surface. We got a monument that was engraved wrong for next to nothing. Then had a plaque made to honor the vets and mounted it over the original engraving. We had the 4 branches of the military stones cast in cement and painted them. Mounted the flag pole, installed a solar light. Then did the surrounding area in red stone and pavers. It was a pretty serious project and took a few weekends to complete.

That's amazing work y'all did Tom. It's a beautiful way to honor those who served. I especially love the medallions honoring each branch of the military.

Thank's, I will pass that appreciation on to my son. It was completed for veterans day in 2017. It was a big event with the high school band playing, speeches, newspaper was there, and about 100 people. He raised the flag for the first time at the ceremony. One of the parishioners grandfather was buried there and received the medal of honor. He jumped on a grenade and saved his squad. Needless to say his story was told that day and there wasn't a dry eye. It was a great project that my son can be proud of forever.

I finally got to play a round of golf. Well, part of a round, with rental clubs, but it's better than nothing for me. We were moving through the course until #14 and just hit a brick wall of groups in front. We ended up circling back and playing 10 and 11 again before we ran out of sunlight.

Yes, it's been a long-time coming with piecemealing classes together one per semester for the past several years. The last two years haven't made it any easier, either. Big relief walking out of the conference room this morning.

Congrats!  It's been a bit but I remember the feeling.  Now you can just have periodic nightmares about scrambling to finish a paper/project instead of actually scrambling to finish a paper/project.  Totally not something I ever did in grad school....  😉

Thankfully, doing it one class at a time wasn't too much of a workload to handle, but it was crazy at times, especially if work was busy also.

Applied Computer Science with an emphasis in cybersecurity is my degree. My final project was creating an automated and distributed set of honeypots from which I collected attack data from and summarized.

There are many graduate degrees that are kind of pie in the sky (nothing wrong with that IMHO) but there are others that are the opposite of that -- topical and relevant.  Good on you for picking the latter -- one that's going to keep you busy (and employed  😆 ) for the rest of your life.  I bet it's fascinating at the graduate level.

Very cool!!  I was a comp sci major back in the dark ages of card decks on a PDP 11 machine!  😂

I remember going to the house of a co-worker when I was at GE that had bought a PC for about $5k just to see this new fangled technology!  Things have advanced...and come down in price quite a bit since then!  😃

Thanks! My employer paid for the degree so it made sense to finish one. I

Congratulations!! That is a great accomplishment.

Let me know the trick on how I can get my employer to pay for mine...🤣

Ladies and Gentlemen…

I just finished up my last exam with a 98% for my undergraduate degree.  Baring a complete failure of the last writing assignment I should end up with an A.

This has been a long, tiring, stressful, enjoyable, wonderful, and rewarding experience.  Something I thought I would never accomplish in life, but here I am, on the Dean’s list and graduating with a 4.0 GPA.

Mora of the story, it’s never too late, and you’re never too old to do things that you have been putting off.

Here’s some sparkling apple cider to celebrate. 🥂

Way to go Alan
