You guys all know that my dad was really sick right at the start of the pandemic - 911 ride to the hospital with 70% oxygen levels, intubated for the better part of a week. He's been slowly recovering but hasn't been able to golf yet with me and my son due to his lungs. In fact, during some imaging the doc discovered a number of spots on his lungs. As someone who smoked the vast majority of his adult life, things got concerning pretty quick. So the happy there is, the spots are all scarring and nothing worse than that. Huge sigh of relief. The sad - he also had his shoulder looked at, which he has dislocated a few times and has been bothering him a lot. According to his doc, it's riddled with arthritis and he has been advised if he wants to keep golfing, he's looking at a lot more cortisone shots, which he does not want to do. So he's decided to stop playing. The happy from that - he's going to surprise my son by gifting him his entire bag of near-mint Cobras along with his push cart and GPS watch I got him a few years back. My son has been making noise about wanting his own set, not clubs he's borrowing from me. He's going to be thrilled. I know how my dad feels, it sucked when I was told no more running or hockey due to my knee. Went to a range while waiting on my daughter, she has Cross Country try outs this week… I decided to go less Bryson, and more Adam Scott… by that I mean not trying to smash the living day lights out of everything… lowered my hands a smidge… the rest I’m not saying because we all know what happens when you say it… But I was regularly carrying my driver (who cares if the range tees were elevated) over the 300 yard marker into the woods… made a tee time for tomorrow morning at 8:40. That trick worked wonders for me. Haven't tried it full swing but it might be worth a shot. For me its more just doing it, I know what I need to do, I have done it on course and at the range but I get on course and its like I forget it for 12 holes! Duffed the pitch shot… (a little frustrating so…) I smack the chip off the back of the green. Pitch back down the hill, 2 putt.
