Thanks fellas.

This past 6 months was the icing on the cake. It’s been tough, they are definitely getting their monies worth out of me. It’s been pretty much non-stop since July 22nd. I don’t mind being busy, in fact I love it. Just a constant battle, some things breaks while I’m in the middle of another project.... haven’t seen anything like it in my 13 years. It’s very strange. Like going into a boxing match and having your hands tied behind your back. It’s crazy. Haha

The fam is looking forward to it for sure.

We have a rant thread and a random thread, but I could not find a happy thread... until now.   I'm trying to share my excitement about being off of work for two weeks! It actually started today, so

Been less than active around here lately for several reasons, none of which having to do with any of you. I herniated the space between L4&L5 and haven’t been able to golf since early August.

I have enjoyed my career for the past 13 years, but a chance to stay put for the rest of my children’s school years presented itself to me a few weeks ago with a job offer that I could not refuse.

Unless some sort bonus program comes out, I’ll be done with what I am doing in July.

Still pursuing my degree, but I have just felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.
That is awesome@Shankster! Having the opportunity to be home to spend time with the family will be a blessing for you. I wish you the best of luck in your future career and am truly happy for you.

Yes sir. Going to stay in the Reserves, I have about 6 years of Reserve Duty until I can retire from that if my calculations are correct. Then I’d just have to wait till 62.5 for that to kick in.

Congratulations!  Get a club in those hands as soon as you can.  There's nothing like playing golf with your kids.

So true! One of my favorite things in the whole world!

Congratulations Alan! What a huge opportunity - if I could redo anything at all - I would work less and spend more time with the kids. You won't regret it!

Had a real nice quick road trip with my daughter.  Picked her up in Eugene and stopped at  Wildlife Safari in Winston.  From there we went to Bandon for lunch and a quick drive through of Bandon Dunes. Off to Brookings for the night and dinner at our favorite pizza joint, Zolas. Caught a Christmas light show in a park that night in Brookings that was an absolutley amazing light show. A must do if in the area during the holidays.   Up in the morning to the Redwoods for a hike and explore a few places weve camped at that she didnt really remember. Im always in awe at those gigantic treed.  Made our way back to Eugene via a few antique stores. Buddy called me on the road  and had UO mens basketball tickets that night  so we met at my daughters apartment which is next door to the arena and walked over. Kid usually plays at the game but she is on break so she stayed home.
Just nice to catch up on each others life since she has been non-stop since September with school, music, band, and work.

Love, love, love this! My kids are grown too and time with them is so great. I love talking to them and hearing their dreams and helping them fulfill them is the best. Thanks for sharing and congrats on a great trip.

Getting back into it! I don't know what happened but I got the Yips really badly this summer and just quit golf. I played 32 rounds from Jan-June and only 10 rounds from June-Now.

However, it helped. I fell back in love with it. Just got registered at a local golf academy and starting from scratch. Can already tell a significant difference and hoping to head into 2020 strongly.

After these past 2 weeks I’m very happy with my choice.

Worked our butts off through some adversity... got to the victory lap today, and something out of our control is happening. Might have to do this crap all over again. 🤦🏼‍♂️

My last gig before retiring was running an electronics company that supplied the mil-aerospace markets. ULA was one of our customers and I was invited down to the rocket assembly plant in Decatur, Al. The facility was big enough to assemble 24 rockets (re Atlas, Saturn, etc). They only had 12 in process at the time but we got to climb inside one. The tour ((not open to the public) was unbelievable and climbing into a rocket was a once in a lifetime experience. The one rocket we were in was scheduled for launch 6 months later - so got to watch the launch on tv (unfortunately), wished we could have watched it up close.

Decatur is my hometown. Moved back here in 2000 after 23 years in the Marine Corps.  Have friends who work at ULA.

Finally ventured to the dark side and crossed the bridge to NJ to have lunch at Donkey’s Place. I was a bit apprehensive to buy into the hype but a solid cheesesteak that jumped immediately into my top 5.

Even my three kids enjoyed them. Complete dive joint but worth the trip for the experience.
