I played the Bay course with my dad about 20 years ago. I wanted to play the Plantation, but a friend said it would be a bad idea with my dad due to some of the forced carries. I'll be back on Maui in the spring and hope I can get a couple rounds in.

It's a treat!  So scenic!  But putting in maniacal; slope of the volcano, grain of the grass, and yeah... it's windy!!

The uphill-breaking putts definitely take some getting used to!

Fighting a sinus infection and didn’t sleep all week but it was all worth it for this last night. 5 national championships in a row.

Its been a couple weeks of rough. Issues around the family, will leave it at that but today is veterans day (happy veterans day to all my brothers and sisters) and my uncle runs the committee and town and always does a great job anything military related. 

Had a great event at the library with a good turn out of folks. Was able to speak briefly. Was a good day.

Daughter kept running up to the podium  Couple other pictures from out to sea days.

I just want to take a moment and talk about being thankful for some of the people in my life. 

We're still waiting on my mother-in-law to come home from rehab, she's had a couple of setbacks with her MRSA and had to go back to the hospital twice. Hopefully, she's coming to stay with us around the first of December. 

One of the things we needed was to build her a wheelchair accessible ramp to be able to get her into the house.

Well, one day I was talking to my buddy Jimmy at work. He mentioned it to his mother-in-law and she had some 2x6 boards she just gave us. He them mentioned it to his father-in-law who repairs mobile homes and he had just torn a ramp down and had some decking boards he gave us. 

My friend Ryan offered to help build the ramp, he builds houses and came over today in 34 degree weather and  we worked on it. By we I mean he did the vast majority of planning and crafting of the frame and basically had me to fasten the deck boards, although it was a very good learning experience for this non handy guy. 

My feet are still frozen, but it was well worth it in order to be able to get my mother-in-law home after four months of bouncing between the hospital and rehab.

Nice work. Now you can put your putting mat on it to practice your uphill putts. 

For anyone else finding themselves in a situation where you need one of these built check with your local Boy Scout troop. In order to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout the scout has to have a project. Manage it all himself. Scouts are always looking for a project to do. The scouts raise the money for the material and get the design approved. They also build the entire thing under supervision. I was an Assistant Scout Master and we built several of these for people, churches, and such. We also put up quite a few flag poles.

That came out great man! Always nice to have people in your life like that.

I didn’t realize this. Would gladly get a pole up if they have to do it. Easy enough to do but good project for the kids.

Here is my son's project for a local church that had a lot of veterans buried in their cemetery out back. We dug the hole, put in a sleeve for the flag pole, poured a 3'x3'x3' cement  base that was flush with the surface. We got a monument that was engraved wrong for next to nothing. Then had a plaque made to honor the vets and mounted it over the original engraving. We had the 4 branches of the military stones cast in cement and painted them. Mounted the flag pole, installed a solar light. Then did the surrounding area in red stone and pavers. It was a pretty serious project and took a few weekends to complete.
