The XCalibers are NOT dead. I've been vry sick for a long time.

Recommended Posts

Greetings to My Friends Whom I Miss Dearly:

I've received quite a bit of get-well emails from quite a few folks and even though they had to be sometime read to me, they still warmed my heart.  It means a lot to me since I've been out for quite a while!!  (Heck after I got out of ER last week I had over 2000emails an who knows how many missed calls and texts.

I'm so sorry I haven't responded sooner.  I've been battling some serious health problems since March until this month.  For a long time I've either been in hospitals for treatments or doctors' offices for follow-up.  I've been so weak and sick that I couldn't function.  I had had a little flare-up and even went to the ER last Tues as a precautionary.  But I was fine, wasn't admitted and came home.  I have finally a complete, long lasting bill of health and am planning accordingly.   So now I can think golf out of a bed, thinking about the strategies and logistics and preparing for 2018.  The Xcalibers are NOT going away!!!

2018 is going to be a big year for the Xcalibers and Knights of Camelot. The three new lines are designed, 1/3 already has cosmetics and the remaining will be done by late Jan to early Feb.  I hope to be able to put out some of the new shafts asap (esp. the new 45 gram shaft that even the big hitters can't believe it's only 45 grams. No other shaft with this unique zone stiffness in the world).  Gotta few other kule new shafts as well as redesigns on the best shafts we had in '16.  So stay tuned.

We're also coming up with a new company structure.  I won't have to do everything.  We're implementing an Administrator Consulting and Management Team to go along with our graphics, and copy write editor gurus.  That will free me up to do what I do best – “imaginer” new products, help with shaft selections and club maker/golfer's needs, compare shafts to others' offerings, design a better and new website, eventually this spring start all the videos I want to do, get back on the forums almost daily, ditto my blog, FB etc.

So you're gong to see a new company with the same morals.  And as I've mentioned at the PGA Show, come April/May, I hope to be finishing part of a “premium” line not sold through GWs but to those special fitter club makers who can qualify for min. buy-ins  (but there will of course be a some exceptions…).

Thank you again for all you've done for this industry and for me.  If I've contributed anything, it's from the lessons I've learned from you all. I hope to have your support in 2018.  But if you choose not to do so,  I completely understand.  I'll still always be here to answer any questions you have on any golf related fitting, equipment and of course…maybe a bit on shafts, shaft comparisons, and recommendations.

Blessings to you all.  Namaste.

Sincerely yours,

Robin

Never tried anything from Xcaliber, but I'm curious to see the new line. I tried to find some prices on the older lines but it was a little bit of a struggle. Just out of curiosity, what would be your most similar driver shaft to the Rogue Silver 70X? Thank you!

Hey Gentlemen!

Thanks so much for your well wishes.  It's great to be back and kickin' arse.  Everything's running in high-gear to have a complete new launch in Feb w/ like I said a new Internet Mktg strategy, Sales Team geared esp. toward the club makers, fitters and enthusiasts, videos, a site blog etc., etc. So stay tuned.

But what's more important to me is that everyone has stuck w/ me and expressed nothing but well wishes across the board.  THAT in itself humbles me and makes me want to work harder and imagineer better to help y'all in any way possible.

To Rtracymog - I see i never answered your? re: an equiv. to the Rogue - a great shaft.  But when Feb comes you may want to consider the PRO T6+, or even the new TSL - a 50 gram shaft that's designed for those w/ high swing speeds and quicker tempos/transitions...nothing like it in the world...

Thanks again to ALL!  I'm on it !!!

I reshafted an Adams Blue driver for my Mom with an Xcaliber tour SL in ladies flex. Of course I had to test it out- while wildly unsuitable for my swing, that shaft felt very -surprisingly- stable. Very smooth- maybe too much "kick"- but again- far outside my parameters- I never fought it left or right, just swung away and got repeatable natural draw flight. Of course it went to the moon and 50 or so yards short, but c'mon- 12° Adams Blue driver with a ladies shaft? I'll be watching this line for any future reshaftings.

Greetings and thanks for the post!  The SL has been a great product and took me over 2 years to develop until i was satisfied.  The new '18 SL45...well there'll be no other shaft like that one in the world.  Stay tuned...

Awesome to hear you're doing better.

I forgot to mention...I LOVE the picture of Slammin' Sammy!!!  He grew up in WV not so far from where i grew up.  I met him at a Senior event.  I was introduced by Bobby Nichols (his son Rick was my Tour Rep while at Grafalloy) who said..."Sammy, Sammy...this is the boy i've been tellin' you about.  This is Robin.  he designed that shaft you love so much and he's from WV too...".  We shook hands and he said..."So...you're from WV?"  "Yes Sir Mr. Snead"..."Isn't that a good place to be....FROM?".  "Why...you're still just an ole ornery hillbilly ain't cha?".  "Damn right Son!  And don't you ever change either...".

Priceless!!!

Thanks Robin Arthur for your reply. I will definitely be looking at these shafts. Any thoughts on a guy who has a relatively smooth transition and a high swing speed (for an amateur) - 110-119, who likes a mid-range (weight wise) shaft? Also- I tend to fight with high torque shafts- push slice or snap hook... Thanks in advance.

Hi Plano -

I'm currently in San diego but may be moving ops back to Va. near my Dear Mom who's 86 and could use my help and companionship of course.  We're going to be setting up a fitting ctr. in Ft. Worth, Texas and another one TBD.  We will have a fitting module on the website that's going to be different.  it's in the planning stages right now.  Thanks for the mail.

Hi JJ -

thanks for the post.  I've worked me arse off trying to design, test and market world-class shafts for  club makers, fitters and golfers that doesn't require taking out a home mortgage...and in doing so keep to my personal morals of always speaking the truth.

Thanks again

RA doesn't (or shouldn't) need a trumpeter- these are just very good shafts. And please don't let the price fool you the wrong way- this guy is sort of like Dean Snell.

Robin,

When you replied it didn't tag me, so I missed it. The 50g option sounds light. I'm a guy that likes heavy, but the PRO T6+ sounds intriguing. Thanks for the reply!

@RobinArthur is about all you can do to tag someone with this site. Another forum I'm on, when you @ someone, it'll change the colour of their name in the text and notify them that they were tagged.

So just put @ and then their user name like I did with you.

That is very interesting to me Robin. Ft. Worth isn't exactly in my backyard (4 hour drive) but I'd certainly be more than willing to come see you and schedule a fitting when your FW facility gets up and running. I'm possibly in the market this spring for a Driver fitting. Keep us all informed.

Hey PJ

Will def. do and keep you informed.  I could also help you via email immediately if you're interested.  Besides the xcals of course, I have a data base of over 1200 shafts - both other shaft co's & OEMs - which I use to fit folks and am successful 98% of the time.  So if interested, let me know and we'll rock!
