Set upgrade and Shafts

Unfortunately, the isn't a way to definitively answer this question. Club speed isn't the only factor in choosing flex. Why?

There isn't a consistent measure of flex between manufacturers or even shaft lines within a manufacturer. There is more to a shaft than overall flex that help with getting the right launch conditions. Your swing tempo and characteristics influence shaft selection. An aggressive but slow swing could need an S or X while a fast non aggressive swing could be R.

The best way is to get a fitting. Take your current irons to a store and compare to the clubs with regular. It might be possible to give advise if you indicate current shafts and what you want to accomplish with the new shafts. Ideally you would indicate I have this shaft and here are my launch numbers and that you want to do x with those numbers.

cnosil is right. You should see a fitter who will look at your swing, transition and tempo. I'm not talking about the hitting bay at your local big box golf shop. Look around in your state for reputable club fitters. You could plug your location into Tom Wishon's website to find Wishon approved fitters in your area. Not suggesting he is the be all and end all but just that those folks are going to know what they are doing. It costs a little more for custom fitting but the money is well spent and you will hang on to the irons longer because of it.

No need to add anything more than this.  If you do otherwise, you're just playing a guesting game, which can get expensive.

Shoot, I guess I did add more...lol

The up front cost for fitting is more but you save money in the long run by not purchasing club after club hoping you find something that works. You can have trust in your clubs.

I will add that just because you get fit doesn't mean you arrive at your perfect set automatically. You might need to tinker a little bit with lofts and such once you have the clubs in hand. Any fitter worth his/her salt will gladly help with this as part of the initial fitting cost. The last thing they want is for your to walk away with unhappy since their livelihood is about making clubs that you will love.

It occurs to me that OEMs want to opposite. Buy a club/set that gives an initial honeymoon high and then leaves you looking for a new set next year.
