I have a new ... problem. I have developed impingement in my right shoulder. It doesn't affect the golf swing very much, but it sure does does hinder raising a cup of coffee to my face...lol.

Had the impingement issue also. It became really restricted so went to physical therapy and no problem since.
The other shoulder different issue. Needed rotator cuff surgery.

I had two knee replacements 2 1/2 years ago for my 3rd and 4th knee surgery.  First two were many many years ago and were meniscus removals.  That shot that spring and summer golf season as they were 2.5 months apart.   Next year was followed by a hernia repair in April and that will slow down your swing speed.                So now relearning the use of legs and hips and rotation somewhat successfully but still searching after about 2 plus years without golf.    PT is a brutal experience.

Getting my left knee replaced in 2014 was the best thing I did for my golf swing.  I wished I had it done years before.  Same knee I had cartilage removed the old fashioned way in 1972, and it never really was normal after that.  I had to have a torn meniscus in my right knee removed 6 weeks before my left knee replacement, so I could have a "good leg" to stand on.  I had the replacement done in November and was playing golf when golf season started in March 2015.  PT was brutal, but my boss had the same surgery done three months before mine and didn't do the PT because "It hurts".  He had another surgery later to remove scar tissue so he could have good range of motion...  dumbass!

My Orthopedic doc was kind to me post surgery and renewed my pain meds for me to take during PT.   Helped some but first Physical Therapist was a wee bit crazy and not productive for me.  Second one was much better.  Don't be concerned about changing if things are not working out for you.

I also learned how pain management in the hospital can be a real variable.  First surgery was with a spinal clock and femoral nerve block followed by great nursing care and pain well under control.  Second surgery in same hospital but different Anesthesia Doc, he missed on the femoral block and the nursing care turned a day and night into a pure hell pain wise.

Today the everyday pain level is 0 where pre surgery it would between a 2-4 depending on the day and after playing a round of golf pre surgery, there would be fluid in both knees.

Now just trying to get back the golf swing.  Good luck to all facing a knee replacement.

The PT is necessary if you want the surgery to be successful. I also know people who did not do PT and they suffered the consequences.

I was supposed to play Wolf today at another course in town today.  Yesterday, I woke up with an angry muscle in my lower back.  It wasn't bad, but I skipped my 9-hole walking round on Monday, and I didn't even spend any time practicing.  I did some stretches, but last night when I went to bed, I could hardly move.  I've had sore back muscles before... Hey! I'm 73 years old!!  I'm sure it won't be the last time I have a sore back.  Usually I know what caused it, usually overdoing yard work, but I don't remember anything that was ABNormal for me.

It's better today, but I don't know when I will tee it up.  Another game of Wolf scheduled for Thursday at 6:30am... Hmmm?  Maybe.

Waiting around for the slow play people today really did not help me out.  Shoulder stiffness earlier is now shoulder pain.  Haven’t felt like this since before my surgery... 🥺

Might have to take a break from golf before I even get going this year. 😭

Yep... I am a dummy.  Felt a little better today, did the SuperSpeed thing and hit some shots in the yard... now I’m back to the WTH stage.  Might have to give it a break for real.  😢

For a golf specific, pre-round stretch I take a lot of the stuff from Fit for Golf's warm up manual. Really solid way to get loose before a round, especially if you can't get to the range beforehand.

His other workouts have a lot of golf-specific mobility in them as well and are very good.

Yoga is also great and readily available on YouTube. Just need to find something that you like.

Had to get another mole removed. This one was smaller so I got it done in my skin guy’s rooms. Waiting on the results, but my surgeon is very confidant of a good outcome. He was pretty pleased with himself for even doing the biopsy, and it was a level below the 2 I had removed last year.

The man does know how to sew things up nice and tight. My posture should be improved😂

I learned last week that I have an L4/L5 Herniation. Last month I was playing as a guest of my brother-in-law when I collapsed in the first fairway.

Fortunately, I have only missed one shift at work. I am however concerned about living with this. It changes things and I’ll have to make some adjustments.

Matt that stinks, I’m sorry to hear that.

Despite this being an incredibly new diagnosis, everyone I’ve spoken to who either has a similar issue or knows someone has said to avoid surgery at all costs.

I hope it can find itself a new normal so I can get back to swinging next season and hopefully not affect work.

An adventure filled youth contributed to mine. I will say that my daily inversion table routine and monthly chiropractor visits do help and I'm planning on getting a CBD stick for the really rough days.

I hope it’s working for you. I wasn’t too much of a crash and bang but I played competitive hockey as a goaltender until age 26 and have been a professional firefighter since 2008. I like to think this is a kind reminder to make some healthy changes.

It is to some extent, but getting older and getting arthritis doesn't help the cause. All we can do is pain management and keep on keeping on. Hope you get some relief soon.

I've had my legs go because of degenerative disc disease in my L1/S5. Hopefully you can heal up/get treatment without surgery.

I had an MRI about 15 years ago and was diagnosed with DDD, so it's not a very new diagnosis.  I think it's an alternate term for old age.  🤣  I took hydrocodone for several years, but with a swing change I have managed to eliminate that med.  Now I just take 2 naproxen on days I play 18 holes.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

New for me 🥳

Today was PT appt 2 and I have some good progress as well as a better understanding of what’s happening. Now it’s as many have, time to learn to swing.

Tweaked my lower back yesterday doing light squats and didnt think it was that bad. Today started getting really bad back spasms. Toradol is a helluva drug. That plus a muscle relaxer and things are feeling good

Finally back doing the golf thing. Without going into a lot of detail, I lost strength in the legs for almost any activity, including standing and balance. After impressive work done by my primary care physician. cardiologist, and great physical therapists, all is in order for doing "golf activities".

First re-pairs were adding a stent to a locked artery and doing a LOT of physical therapy.  THEN it was decided to put a Watchman in me and all has been cleared in terms of activity.

So far I can chip and putt and lightly swing my Orange Whip®.  So I did a little of each.  Results were "OK" for now. All showed severe rust; but, I expected that.

Great to be back!
