Rickp
I have a new ... problem. I have developed impingement in my right shoulder. It doesn't affect the golf swing very much, but it sure does does hinder raising a cup of coffee to my face...lol.Had the impingement issue also. It became really restricted so went to physical therapy and no problem since. The other shoulder different issue. Scotland blue
I had two knee replacements 2 1/2 years ago for my 3rd and 4th knee surgery. First two were many many years ago and were meniscus removals. That shot that spring and summer golf season as they were 2.5 months apart. Next year was followed by a hernia repair in April and that will slow down your swing speed. So now relearning the use of legs and hips and rotation somewhat successfully but still searching after about 2 plus years without golf. PT is a brutal experience. Getting my left knee replaced in 2014 was the best thing I did for my golf swing. I wished I had it done years before. Same knee I had cartilage removed the old fashioned way in 1972, and it never really was normal after that. I had to have a torn meniscus in my right knee removed 6 weeks before my left knee replacement, so I could have a "good leg" to stand on. I had the replacement done in November and was playing golf when golf season started in March 2015. PT was brutal, but my boss had the same surgery done three months before mine and didn't do the PT because "It hurts". He had another surgery later to remove scar tissue so he could have good range of motion... dumbass! Scotland blue
My Orthopedic doc was kind to me post surgery and renewed my pain meds for me to take during PT. Helped some but first Physical Therapist was a wee bit crazy and not productive for me. Second one was much better. Don't be concerned about changing if things are not working out for you. I also learned how pain management in the hospital can be a real variable. First surgery was with a spinal clock and femoral nerve block followed by great nursing care and pain well under control. Second surgery in same hospital but different Anesthesia Doc, he missed on the femoral block and the nursing care turned a day and night into a pure hell pain wise. Today the everyday pain level is 0 where pre surgery it would between a 2-4 depending on the day and after playing a round of golf pre surgery, there would be fluid in both knees. Now just trying to get back the golf swing. Good luck to all facing a knee replacement. Kenny B
I was supposed to play Wolf today at another course in town today. Yesterday, I woke up with an angry muscle in my lower back. It wasn't bad, but I skipped my 9-hole walking round on Monday, and I didn't even spend any time practicing. I did some stretches, but last night when I went to bed, I could hardly move. I've had sore back muscles before... Hey! I'm 73 years old!! I'm sure it won't be the last time I have a sore back. Usually I know what caused it, usually overdoing yard work, but I don't remember anything that was ABNormal for me. It's better today, but I don't know when I will tee it up. Another game of Wolf scheduled for Thursday at 6:30am... Hmmm? Maybe. DrMJG
Finally back doing the golf thing. Without going into a lot of detail, I lost strength in the legs for almost any activity, including standing and balance. After impressive work done by my primary care physician. cardiologist, and great physical therapists, all is in order for doing "golf activities". First re-pairs were adding a stent to a locked artery and doing a LOT of physical therapy. THEN it was decided to put a Watchman in me and all has been cleared in terms of activity. So far I can chip and putt and lightly swing my Orange Whip®. So I did a little of each. Results were "OK" for now. All showed severe rust; but, I expected that. Great to be back!
