Iron upgrade

Burrtuchi

Recommended Posts

I am currently rocking a set of Lynx Parralynx 3-PW. I've been thinking about upgrading to something slightly newer. I just started playing so they won't be new in any sense. I just feel like my current set up is running it's course. I've been looking online and reading about various options (rocketbladez etc) any suggestions?

Cool - just depends on how much you'd like to spend. If it means anything my teacher didn't like Rocket or Speed Blades because he felt there wasn't enough feedback from them.

If you're coming from Lynx might I suggest Pings that are a couple of years old G30.

I gamed the Wilson C100 that you could pick up quite inexpensively now. The old Mizuno 900 JPXs - the world is your oyster my friend.

Then go find a fitter to make sure you have the proper lie and shaft combo.

Good luck and have fun!

I game the rocket bladez tours and they are like hitting the ball with a wet baseball glove, just a thudded whack. Horrible golf clubs.

Many great options out there. Find the ones and get them. If you like them don't let other people's opinions get in the way, because they usually suck and aren't useful.

My budget is pretty low at $250. I was looking at taylormade and wanted some suggestions. Not locked in on TM just looking for a decent game improvement iron set in my price range.

I would think that you could get a great used set at GG or PGASS.

For that price point with TM, you may still be able to find the Burner 2.0 irons. Just take a look on eBay or 2nd swing.

They were a great set in their day.

Those old Lynx are a classic in a great way. They were designed by none other than Mr Tom Wishon himself. You may want to look into the Wishon line of custom fit clubs. Sometimes you can find a set in a pawn shop or the thrifts cheap because custom component clubs do not sell for much. Not because they are cheap by any means but because they are not "mainstream" . Do not be in a hurry look arond and kick the tires some so to speak you never know. Who would have ever thought I would be satisified with 2013 cavity backs after being an old Macgregor blade man all my life

You might also want to look at Golfworks. They do packs and can assemble them for you for an extra fee. Just food for thought.

Not saying this applies to you but.. I find that a common mistake beginners make is buying clubs and making them the foundation for improving their game.  Lessons will get you to a level where changing clubs may make a big enough difference to justify an investment.  Once your swing mechanics are solid a set fit to your body and swing type will maximize your potential.  So basically spend the 250 on lessons, develop "your" swing, then get clubs made for you.
