GolfSpy Barbajo
Got this in the Inbox this morning. I'm a big fan of ECCO shoes, and the ECCO Cool 18 GTX is a great walking shoe, even with cleats. At first I wasn't sure what to make of the new offerings, though -- initial thought was ECCO just had its Jump The Shark moment. But the new S-Drives are growing on me -- just a little. I could see wearing the white or grey model - the blue is just a bit too much for me. The S-Drive Perfs, however, are a little more my speed - very much like the white/blue model. You've probably seen Smylie Kaufman sporting the blue and orange S-Drives on line (perfect shoe for the Bronco fan!) What do you guys think of these? ECCO makes shoes that are comfortable and that perform - we know that. And they make different styles that'll fit most tastes. I'm thinking these are, ummmm, targeted? Their tagline is "Step Out of the Ordinary." These things definitely do that. Like I said - the white and grey are growing on me, and I'd wear the Perf's anytime. What do you think? Have a look... GolfSpy Barbajo
Official stuff from ECCO... ECCO® Golf Launches ECCO S-DRIVE Lightweight, Running-Inspired Design Offers Exceptional Agility and Performance (LONDONDERRY, NH) – ECCO – a leading manufacturer of innovative footwear – announces the launch of ECCO S-DRIVE, a hybrid shoe inspired by the running market featuring a lightweight, technical construction for a combination of flexibility and stability. Boasting an asymmetrical closure, ECCO S-DRIVE (MSRP $160) naturally cradles the foot for maximum comfort. The dual-material upper is crafted from a soft, breathable mesh bonded with microfiber to move freely with the foot and enhance fit, feel and durability. “We've taken inspiration from the best features of modern running shoes to make a golf shoe that is unlike anything else on the market and, fundamentally, will really perform,†says ECCO Lead Designer Andrzej Bikowski. “It holds every facet necessary to play golf at the highest level, including stability, support and ECCO's quintessential comfort.†Available in bold color combinations and athletic styling, the ECCO S-DRIVE upper sits atop a performance-inspired last and midsole enforced with a stability wing to prevent the foot from rolling during the swing. Additional features of ECCO S-DRIVE include: · Weather Resistance - Treated with HYDROMAX® for superb weather and perspiration resistance. · Technical Insole System - Removable Ortholite® inlay sole offers long-term cushioning, enhanced breathability, antimicrobial function and the option of extra width. · Superior Stability – Direct-injected PU stability wing wrap up serves as an extension of the midsole for added support through the swing. · Tour-Proven Traction – Constructed from direct-injected TPU – a highly durable, wear-resistant material – the E-DTS® outsole offers hundreds of traction angles for superb grip. Like all ECCO golf shoes, ECCO S-DRIVE is crafted at company-owned factories that utilize the DIP to bond the upper and outsole unit, creating a one-piece shoe without the use of glue or stitching. Benefits include flexibility, durability and a lightweight construction. ECCO Golf shoes are worn in competition around the world by Fred Couples, Ernie Els, Smylie Kaufman, Peter Hanson, Thomas Bjørn, Lydia Ko, Minjee Lee, Caroline Masson, Gerina Piller, among others. TSauer
Not a huge fan of the bright colors, but I do like the white/grey combo. downlowkey
For purely aesthetic reasons there is zero chance I'll be sporting this lineup. But I can also envision the molded fins on the sides of the outsole filling up with muck and being a PITA to clean without an air compressor. No thank you. Badfish
Do they have an option for turbulators? Jokes aside, If they are comfy then why not. PMookie
+1. I'm on my second pair of ECCO walking shoes. They are very comfortable at first, but for some reason my feet ache if I wear them and I'm on my feet all day, so these are my last pair. Unfortunate. Not crazy about the style or specially the colors of the golf shoe in the OP, but I'm older. The latest adidas tour boost golf shoes are more my style. And I'm going to try to find the Skechers golf shoe after reading about them here. YMMV Skechers and Footjoy Contour Fit were the MOST comfortable shoes out of ALL brands (Mizuno, to Nike, to UA, to Adidas, etc, etc) I tried over the last 5 months in all my travels and going to the HUGE golf stores. Literally tried EVERY brand and style out now. Golfspy_CG2
I'm not hating them. And I've got an Ecco gift card just sitting in my desk drawer that I've been waiting to use. I may be older an all, but I think i could pull off the Blue/Orange or maybe Gray/Orange. Will give them a try. I was an ecco advocate years before most people were on to them, mostly thanks to my Fiance who has been wearing their casual shoes for over 20 years, I think I first tried them around 2000 or so, and they were all I wore until a couple years ago. Still have a few pair in the rotation along with FootJoy, Puma and Nike.
