drsdt
Hi Guys! Psyched to be part of the community! Just discovered this website and freaking love it! Bought the Ping Cadence Ketsch Mid (slight arc) based off this review. Can't believe the change in my putting... So thanks MGS for the fantastic data. The snow line is descending here in the mountains and sadly this weekend will be my last round until April or May. Damn you snow... So my question: How do I maintain/improve my game over the winter (6-7 months off)? My plan is to hit the gym pretty hard and really up my strength. Lots of core work and rotational resistance training. And hopefully grooving my swing. I'm looking at getting an Orange Whip. I'm also looking at the Zepp swing path trainer and the Blast Motion Golf sensor (Blast is for my putting). Also looking at the Superspeed golf system to up my clubhead speed. What do you think? Any advice would be awesome. Also, is there another forum I should be posting this question in? Thanks! tony@CIC
I just bought a putting mat for the basement - it's about 2x10. Also I practice chipping in the winter as long as there's no snow on the ground (and temps above the 20's.). Both of those areas need a lot of work. drsdt
Thanks again guys. Speaking of the mat/net/garage idea... A buddy and I are looking into finding space in town and getting a launch monitor. We thought between 10 or 12 golf nuts, it'd be pretty doable. We'll probably have to do this next year. Don't love the idea of not hitting balls for 6-7 months... Kenny B
I think I did a welcome in another thread. Work on flexibility exercises. You will be amazed what they will do for your game when spring comes. My other suggestion is if you set up a swing station to use, you should also set up a video camera or iPhone to capture your swing from down-the-line and face-on. Have your local instructor or pro check them from time to time. If you are doing something wrong, and you do it for 6 months, you could end up worse than not doing anything over the winter. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Thanks man. I've been doing some research on launch monitors...not cheap. I'll look into one called the Mevo by Flightscope. It's $500. I'll keep you posted. Great suggestion. Thanks Kenny. I'll start my flexibility/mobility and strength training/conditioning next week. Totally agree. 6 months of reinforcing bad habits would be pretty devastating. I've found a pro in the UK - Dan Whittaker. He coaches Rick Shiels and Peter Finch. I've been in contact and will try for something like monthly lessons.
