Recurring Golf Dreams?

Who else dreams about golf? Not just daydreaming, actual night dreaming. Besides replaying the shots from that day's round, I have this one specific dream that keeps coming back to me:

 

I'm in the rough setting up for a delicate-but-manageable 40y pitch over a bunker to the green. The ball is sitting down in a patchy, crabgrass lie. I've got my 60* in hand and there's a bunch of people from my life watching in the gallery. The gallery is closer than they should be and right in front of my setup.

 

I set up to the ball, wiggle, adjust, wiggle, adjust, wiggle, adjust some more, realign, wiggle, then pull the club back for a backstroke and stop my swing then step away. No matter how many times I reset and realign, I can't pull the trigger and actually hit the shot. If it's not uncertainty over the shot, an outside force like a camera shutter or bird causes me to back off the shot. I can feel the timer ticking and get more tense every time I step up even if I'm telling myself "this time I'm hitting it no matter what!"

 

This repeats until I wake up. I'm not panicked when I wake up but I certainly wake up well before the alarm. I can get back to sleep and won't have that dream again that night but I know it'll come back another day.

 

 

 

 

 

I don't generally have issues with this on the course. My routine is deliberate and I only step off if I feel like I'm grossly out of alignment. I'd be lying if I said this dream doesn't cross my mind as I prep the shot when I get into especially sticky situations.

 

I know this isn't the typical "winning the Master's" dream but I thought I'd share it in case other members have something similar.

I certainlu do. I have a common reoccurring one about missing a tournament tee time.

 

But the most frequent and scary is. I'm on a tee box that is complefely cramped with trees, tables etc. Lots of things that prohibit me from taking a natural stance and impossible to make a swing.

 

I adjust over and over but can never get a shot off. Then I usually wake up.

 

OK bring on the psychological analysis.

Whoa. So "unable to hit" is a thing then. We've just got different reasons keeping us from making the swing.

 

 

Now what's the reason we keep having the dream? It's gotta be something in our normal life right?

I dream of golf quite often because the night before the round I usually go to sleep while playing each shot on each hole in my head to perfection. Hardly made it all the way thru 18 holes. This is a big reason why I usual do well in the front nine.

 

I once dreamt of playing at the players tournament Sunday round tie for the lead just eagle the 16th put 3 shots in the water at 17th.

I can honestly say I've never had a dream about golf while sleeping. But I've lived a few out on the course.

Likewise, I have never had a golf dream.   Even though I have aged, there are still other activities about which I continue to dream.   Remember, one knows one is old when their f@rts are wet and their dreams are dry.

 

But I did dream that the "Hoos" beat Duke followed by a win over the Tarheels and I don't want to wake up.

Totally have had golf dreams with the element of not being able to make the swing. The other recurrent theme to my golf dreams is that I start out playing on a course then end up playing i weird places like the school yard or down a street or something

I'm with Plaid on this..I' don't think I've ever dreamed about golf, golfing in a tournament, playing a course like Augusta National etc...I can't say I've lived the dream on the course yet either...well except for maybe breaking 80 a few times (and I mean just a few times...lol)

I had a golf dream a couple nights ago. I was playing hole 10 at some unknown course. Steep downhill par 4, sharp dogleg right. Fairway sloped severely right to left. For some reason, in this dream, I played that hole twice. Both times, I left my tee shot out to the left and into a rock bed. Both times I hit a great recovery shot right at the pin. Both times it rolled over the green. I think I made par once and bogey once. That's all that happened. Kind of a low-key dream.

I had a weird one last night.

 

I was playing hole 1 of a course I've played 1000 times. It went into this ditch filled with rocks that runs across the fairway just short of the green (this doesn't even exist in the real life course) with 2 separate hazards in it. 1 red hazard at the bottom along a little Creek and 1 "blue" hazard that ran up to the top of the ditch on either side.

 

My ball was lodged in the rocks within the blue hazard. I guess this was a tournament because my playing partners and I debated the rules until rules officials came out then we debated the ruling for the whole rest of the dream until I woke up.

 

 

The weird thing is, I kept feeling that clock tick and tick as groups behind us were getting irritated but we could never get to a decision on what the ruling was.

 

 

It was a blue hazard for Christ's sake, everyone knows what to do in those situations right?🤪

Still not convinced enough to pick him for my fantasy team, but if he wins, that would be something else!

I do this when I can't get to sleep.  I always play the little 9 hole that I grew up playing.  It usually works.  I can't ever remember getting to the second loop and playing from the blues, and usually I only get about 3-4 holes in.

Not a recurring dream here, but I had a golf dream last night, so I'm bumping @GolfSpy STUDque's thread.

Last week, I ordered a Rogue SZ from Callaway Pre-Owned. Unfortunately, when it arrived, the shaft had two cracks in it. When I pushed on one of the cracks a bit (couldn't tell if it was just a paint crack), the shaft snapped. So I immediately called Callaway and they agreed right away to ship out a replacement and that I'd ship the first one back in the box they're sending. [One point for good customer service.]

So my driver is coming tomorrow. And so I dreamed about getting this driver last night.

Unfortunately, this time (in my dream) it came with the wrong shaft. In my dream, I took out my phone to look the shaft up, because I'd never heard of it, and sure enough (in my dream) it was some off-brand garbage. Also, it was cut very short, but I hadn't realized it immediately because the grip was not installed all the way down; about 3 inches of the grip had no shaft in it. And there was a second shaft of the same model in the box, and it was even shorter.

So I'm hoping that this was all a bad dream. And I'm sharing it with you so that you realize I'm a very troubled person.

Never had a golf dream, but most nights I settle down to sleep and start playing my home course as it's an easy way to relax, dont think I ever remember getting past about the 5th or 6th..........usually 6 under as well
