Nappy
I have a Taylormade RSI1 7 iron that I'm trying to remove a steel shaft from the head. I bought this online from Dallas Golf and I'm going to be putting a new Recoil SMACWRAP shaft in it. I've tried every way I can think of to remove this head. Multiple passes with a heat gun and using my shaft extractor with no luck. It will not budge. I did all the rest of my irons with no issue. My question is there certain epoxy that is harder to remove and requires something more than a heat gun? Would a torch work better? I'm really not worried about saving the current shaft, but I do not want to do anything to the club head.
Kenny B
A torch is faster, but the heat gun should work. It just takes a little longer. Crank up the tension on the extractor and keep the heat on it. Good luck! “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

GolfJunkie302
Yeah, if you have a torch, use it. If not, keep the heat on for longer. hckymeyer
Steel shaft and an iron head. Put that bad boy in a vice and torch it. Then twist and pull. I'd recommend using a shaft clamp but if you really don't care about saving the shaft then feel free to just crank it down and crimp the metal if you don't have a clamp handy. McaseyM
Lots of heat and dirty talk, but torch back and forth over the hosel keeping it moving until a touch of smoke, then twist the crap out of it, but careful not to leave flame in one place too long so as not to discolor the head Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy What's in my bag: Driver : F9 10.5, Fujikura Speeder 757 TR Fairway F9 15.5° Aldila Rogue White 80X Hybrid: King F7 18° KBS Tour PROTO Hybrid 95 S+ Irons: z585 4i - 6i, z785 7i-PW, Nippon Modus 120X Wedges: CBX 50.11, 55.11, 60.10 TT DG S400 Black Putter: Honey Badger 34" Ball: Q-Star Tour
Kor.A.Door
Heat gun will work just set it and forget it for a couple minutes, with a torch it only takes a 10-15 seconds of heat, but move the heat around or you with scorch the hosel, if the hosel does discolor, you can use some scotch brite to take it off, it should hurt it. With a steel shaft you can twist the crap out of it and it will come off. Good luck Lefties are always in their Right Mind
RookieBlue7
Be careful heating that head. If it's one of the ones with the goo in the face/sole it'll melt. Nappy
Ended up getting a torch and it did the trick. Just weird considering the heat gun worked on everything else. Good thing to keep in mind going forward if I ever have trouble.
