When do you 'shut down' for the season?

Hopefully the snow stays away and we play all winter. In reality, we usually play through the end of November, if not into December. The snow hasnt been bad for us in the Chicago area the past few years and when it has come, it's been in the February and March time frame. We'll see what this year holds.

I stop when there are no longer courses open in my area. I live in eastern Washington state so the weather is all over the map this time of year. I have played on Christmas Eve, mid January, Valentine's Day and everything in between. Just depends on the weather.

Only time I shut down is when the back does it for me, otherwise it is golf most any day it isn't raining if I have the time.

I just don't play when it gets below 50*. With a back injury in the cold a few years ago, I don't take anymore chances. Plus, I hate golfing with a million layers on!

I live in Spokane. We have GREAT munis as well as some pretty fantastic private courses as well. In the winter I try and head to the Tri-Cities for better weather if possible. What about yourself?

Unfortunately due to work I think I am done for the year. I would love to get out and play a couple more times but between work and the weather I do not see it happening any time soon.

Maybe a few nice days will surprise us.

I live in Northern California so yes, we do have seasons... kinda. Winter is definitely a bit colder and rainier but not so much that courses close or anything like that. Last year, we had some extreme rain and there may have been one or two days when every course was shut down.

In any case, I keep my sporting somewhat seasonal! I love golf but I love a lot of other things as well. I'll probably slow down to one round a week. At the moment, it's cyclocross season! I'm two races in and well... golf didn't help my cardiovascular endurance much! Cross goes until mid December or so then it's on to ski season in the sierras. I'll keep you guys posted as to what I'm doing!

I live in the Tri-Cities.  Play at Columbia Point mostly.  My wife is from Spokane and we play up there when we visit family.  We've played all the munis.  The Spokane CC, now Kalispell G&CC, was her home course when she played in high school.  We played there last month.

Maybe we can hook up when you come south or when we head north.

Living in Western Washington, means Golfing all year round IF you can handle the cold. we usually have frost delays and occasionally a week or so of snow but that is hit and miss. But Rain it does.. the rainy season starts really in January and ends in December so we were Very fortunate this year that we are having a great fall.. but normally the clubs go away for the most part early Nov. until March.. ish.

Another warm climate golfer here... My climate does allow me to golf year round, but I do tend to go into a lull between January and March. I am mainly a fair weather golfer, and this is when we get the majority of our rain. And even when it's not raining, I don't like to play on soggy courses were I'm flinging mud around on every shot... So most years, I'm only getting in a handful of rounds prior to spring. Once Spring hits, I'm out pretty much every weekend.

Never.  I will play in the cold so long as it isn't windy too.

Give me 40 degrees and sunny over 90+ degrees and sunny any day.

I will take 90+, even 100+, over 40 and below... I very much dislike playing in the cold. I can't wear enough layers to stay warm while wearing few enough layers as to not restrict my swing. The heat also allows me to stay nice and loose throughout the round, which is always a struggle for me in the cold. There are also a lot fewer people on the course when it's 100+! Played a round at 111 this summer and the pace of play was awesome!

Have to say we have had an incredible year here in Halifax and every time I clean up the clubs for winter and say that's it for the year I end up getting asked to come out for one more round! It's been like that for about a month now. Potential last round today; however if this weather keeps up who knows!

Our course is open all year (closed Christmas Day) if there isn't snow on the ground, it's open for play.   Even in January when it's 20 degrees out, we'll get one or two players at least a day that will attempt to play.

Working at the course, a perk is keeping my clubs in my office, so if we get an unexpected 50 degree day in January or February, I'll likely grab them and head out for at least 9 holes or the range.

But in practicality, our last playable weather is usually sometime in early to mid December, until early to mid March.
