Miboy62
I would say yes with scoring in the 70's four times. Putts below 30 4 times. Was able to mark some balls up, and put in a display cube. In saying that consistency is not my friend, most of my rounds were 82/94. downlowkey
At the beginning of the year I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to take a proper divot again. The first few rounds after my shoulder injury I couldn't make myself touch the ground; every shot was kinda thin and sweepy. Rehab twice a week and lots of extra mobility work in the basement is finally proving enough stability in my right shoulder to take nice shallow dollar bill divots. May not seem like much of goal, but I am stoked to be making some real progress. Kenny B
I find the goals listed very interesting. Many want to break 90 or 80 or some score. Each time I play a round of golf, I don't think about my score as the goal for the year; to me it's an objective. I set achievable goals based on an analysis of my game. I like the goal @Miboy62 had... less than 30 putts per round. If your tendency is to 3-putt, then set a goal of no 3-putts in a round. If you tend to miss a lot of greens, the goal should be to get up and down for par or a bogey save X number of times in a round. Well, since you miss a bunch of greens, set a goal for # of greens hit in regulation. How about a round of golf with no double bogeys or worse? A round of all bogeys and a par thrown in somewhere is sub-90. You get the idea. Don't make goals based on the score you want. Make goals based on what you have to do to improve your score. If you do that, then your focus during each round and during practice sessions will be on the skills you need, and by the end of the year you will achieve your objective of the score you want. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
JAGolfore
So I did accomplish some goals this year but most were not. I did shoot the lowest round I've shot in 10 years, a -9 (63) in league this summer and defended my club championship, finished -3 for the 2 rounds. My bigger goals, us open, state am and mid am we're all derailed due to work. Hopefully next year I will be able to make these events work. I hate WD'n events. Rano
Yes. Two years running now. In 2016 I set myself the task of getting from 24 hcp to under 18. Managed to get to 17. In 2017 I set myself the task of getting down from 17 to 12. Finally got there in September after a slow start and a period where it looked like I might not make it. Next year the target is single figures. A more intangible goal is to make my practice time more efficient. I'm a prolific practicer. I spend hours and hours at the course milling around between the range, the putting green and the chipping area. But I didn't see the improvements that so many hours should have rendered. So I'm reading more about effective practice and next year I will try to implement them. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Sent from my Pixel XL using MyGolfSpy mobile app It's a pipe dream. I feel I can get out of the local qualifier, but would need to play my absolute best to get into the main event. Jmikecpa
In some ways yes and in most way no. My index went from +1 to a 2.0 due to some changes in my game. I spent 37 years of golf hitting a draw and this year worked on hitting a flat cut on most of my shots. Early in the year it did not pan out well for me but it is the shot shape I need to play good golf at my club. Over the last month it has clicked and my index is trending to scratch and it feels really good. I lost a few yard of the tee but became a much better ball striker so all in all it was positive. Looking forward to playing some great golf next season. Big money
No, And was actually disappointed. All the hundreds of hours. And all $$$ spent on lessons past two seasons did nothing for me.Put forth all my efforts to achieve a better performing and looking swing.Sadly it made me worse and almost made me quit the game. The last half of season I went out and had one thought.Go out and just Swing. My scores dropped immediately from 90-100 down to low 80 and a few mid to low 70's.No matter what I was taught it never worked.Im thinking that my swing faults are so ingrained that I adapted to them.My swing is completely against most teachings. But oddly it seems to work when I need it to.My am group couldn't believe how my game turned around late in the year.Went from D player pick all the way to being a captain to mid A player. josmi15
My goals were definitely NOT met this year. I'm going back to the drawing board. I struggled with my driver ever since I sent my swing to the Golf fix. Having 100% confidence in 13 clubs just didn't do it this year. Working on goals for 2018. I will succeed next year! ole gray
Finding a driver that I was more accurate with that also produce better than my average distance. I found that driver in the Cobra F6. Now I wouldn't mind finding a companion driver for those times when I just want to mix it up. Not sure which one will match up with the F6? Maybe another F6,,,, nawwwww I'm looking for something just as good with a different flare to it. I used to have a Ping G25 that I was awestruck with so maybe another Ping will be my goal for 2018? Swing wise I'm really working hard on keeping those elbows closer together in my swing. I'm seeing some promising results so this will be an ongoing goal.. MDGolfHacker
I set low goals just the nature of having two kids getting into sports knowing I wouldn't have the time to devote to golf like I have in the past. So here's what I succeeded at this year in golf: -just enjoy golfing with buds -playing with a few fellow MGS'rs (PAGolfer) -following birdie holes with W$@%#F@#$ holes So what I didn't quite succeed at this year in golf: -lowering my handicap -having a more consistent swing as I have been in the past -replacing irons, driver, putter, wedges -NOT following birdie holes with W$@%#F@#$ holes -More Lessons -Win the Solstice Tourney I play in for the last 10+ years (failed miserably on this one) -Be one with the ball..nope didn't happen -playing with more MGS'rs MDGolfHacker TSssWhat's In This Lefty's Bag? Brjpool
I haven't yet reached my overall goal of a 15 handicap. However I did make some great strides, I dropped from a 20 to a 16.5 handicap. I dropped my strokes average by 4 strokes. My percentage of gir, fir, and pars all went up.
