sirchunksalot
My hole of the day was the 480 yard par five 3rd. During solo rounds I have moved up to the green tees (5800+ yards) in order to have a better chance of scoring and build my confidence back. This hole has a dogleg right and the tee shot needs to be closer to the left rough in order to not have a ball above feet second shot. I'm usually right, which means I'm blocked out by three trees. I hit a wind and tailwind aided drive over 255 yards (tee markers were up), leaving 209 to the center of the green. Hit a 5 wood 15 feet short of the green leaving a long putt off the green for eagle. I didn't come close to scaring the hole, but I was able to make par. As far as shot of the day goes, it was probably most of my iron shots. I hit them better than I have in ages. One in particular was the tee shot on the 8th, I had 148 to the flag and hit 7 iron. It landed flag high and rolled to the back of the green, leaving a long putt. It just felt so good. JerryB
Pretty happy with this hole. Pulled out my new 3 wood to tee off on a hole that's tailor made for its shot shape, currently bordering on a full slice. This time I didn't try to kill it and (surprise!) it launched and faded ever so slightly, going long enough to roll past the big evergreen and leaving a clear look with my 8 iron, which came to rest against the fringe at the back of the green. The three putts were less than stellar but acceptable given the tricky pin location. JerryB
Had an atrocious round yesterday but I need to highlight the positive. After a poor drive (gonna go ahead and blame the wind...) I found myself perched up on the fallen leaves with tree branches just above and in front of me. Took my sand wedge and punched it to the green where it rolled to about six feet from the cup. Birdie putt stopped a revolution to the right of the hole for a tap-in. The point is the execution on the chip. My short game generally doesn't kill me and is starting to actually bail me out more often than not. sirchunksalot, GolfSpy TCB and ejgaudette 3 Quote Cobra Aerojet Max driver Cobra Aerojet Max 3 wood and 7 wood Cobra Aerojet 4/5/6 hybrids Cobra Aerojet 7-PW, GW Cobra Snakebite 52° and 58° wedges Cobra King Stingray 20 putter

I'm looking at the image above thinking... you missed on the safe side (I don't see any water.... ), and look at all that green you have to work with from that angle. A lower percentage shot would be down the left side of the fairway with a slim approach angle to the pin. I say you played that hole perfectly. sirchunksalot and JerryB 2 Quote Titleist TSR3 9* (A2 setting) Driver - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Titleist TSR2+ 3 Wood - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Srixon ZX 5W Callaway Paradym 4-PW Titleist Vokey SM9 50-08, 54-10 & 58-08 Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport 2.5 2023 Titleist ProV1

I missed a hole-in-one by less than 4 inches this May in Myrtle Beach - 174 yards to an uphill green, where we could only see the top of the flag, and I hit a 7-iron. Two months later, I missed a hole-in-one at Royal Troon in Scotland by about 5 feet (the ball rolled just past the pin) - this one was 182 yards and I hit a 6-iron. I am 73 years old and far from the longest hitting “super senior” golfer, so I can believe a 191 yard 6-iron to a “slightly uphill” pin. Muckinfiddle
End of the season here and having to travel to play. Playing at a track just outside Portland and my drives seemed to be traveling further than normal, must be my new otto phlex shaft . I am playing from the tips (which isn't that long) and they have all the tees as far back as they can get them. I decide after my drive on the 14th hole, I would measure it. Sure enough it was way up there. Mapped out at 322 in the fairway..... I am certain it had to have hit a rock. MattWillGolf
Thought I’d end my season shot of the day on a humorous note. I played the back nine of my home course. On Number 17, a par 4. I pulled my drive to the left a bit. My ball hit a tree branch and rocketed straight down where it made contact with a portion of the trunk which sent across to the right hand side of the fairway. Popular Post KDeuce
First day of the year, I got my first ever hole in one. Knew it was on a good line, but have horrible depth perception and didn't see where it landed. As we approached the green I only saw three out of four balls. The only ball on the green was hit by someone else. I looked behind me, was I short and it plugged short of the green? Finally realized there was a ball mark about a foot from the cup.
